It was a lot of gerilja activity in Yugoslavia, but the game does not simulate this at the moment. So no occupation there either.

Unfortunately.
But on the other hand without the need to maintain occupation forces, Yougoslavia/ Bulgaria/Argentina/almost any country can become a superpower in HOI.

True, they have a lot of forces located on Balkans, but their major headache was occupied Russian territory. In occupied Russia partizans often controlled entire regions.

Norway... I must find a reason to hate Norway.
You have a reason to hate one Pole; one our princess, when she became the queen of Denmark, made some your national hero die. It was such a nice story... She became queen of Sweden, and later Denmark
(and England, as her husband conquered it; but bad English don't remember about him, just his son, Canute the Great), but she loved that Norwegian only, and he didn't love her (hey! Now I have a reason), so she prompted his fall and enslavement of Norway. Good girl. It was in XI century I think. I may have got something wrong. Her name was Swietoslawa, but You barbarian Scandinavian couldn't pronounce it and there were some strange names You called her, like Storrada or something.
Another Polish princess (either it was queen of Hungary or Swietoslawa again), when one guy wanted to marry her,
and she found him annoying, killed him by herself.
I like those medieval stories. So romantic.

well as everyone knows Fortinbras of Norway defeated the Poles on the Ice, before returning and getting the throne of Denmark. Er, everyone who's read Hamlet knows it, that is.

Sigrid Storrada was polish? Any sources? all I find seemes to either refer to her as born in Sweden or leave that part of her life blank.

Hate Norway? You should hate Sweden more, as I seem to remember them being more troublesome historically. And Sweden conquered the whole Poland and more once in EU2!(you won't guess who ruled them in the shadows! )

I remember it from "Polska Piastow" by P.Jasienica. It is perhaps the most popular book on Polish history, and the first one I read... I think I read about that in other books as well... I think it is a common historical knowledge... even in papers... all people interested in history know that Canute the Great was half-Polish. I've read there are many folk songs about her, but didn't expect anyone there to remember her. When I mentioned her to a Swede I once used to torture with mails, He didn't know anything about it.

Yeah, Sweden was one of the most troublesome neighbours of ours. They conquered Livonia from us, raided us twice killing a third of population and about that the next time, ruined the economy and culture, ending our Golden Age, made anti-protestant sentiment grow amongst catholic majority, allowed Prussia to separate from us, and gave us the hopeless Vasa dinasty (I'll blame Finns for them as well, though).
Still...
Poles love Swedes! They are on the fifth place of our most liked neighbours, but it's pretty high, the best of all our neighbour. Strangely, they had even better marks in other mid-european sympathy polls. But they deserve it A BIT;
When we had a giant flood, they were the most active in helping us I think.

Sure you've got something wrong. Svetoslava it's a Russian name. But since Poland is part of Russia, who cares?

Let me guess, this book also claims that Adam and Eve were Poles as well, right?

Nope. Don't judge Polish historical books by your experience with the Russian ones.

None Russian book claims that Adam and Eve were Russians. There is no need for this since everyone knew this.
