Yes, and this is one big difference between Australians and Yanks - we don't mind a few laughs at our own expense.
Why don't you?

I don't know about other "yanks"... but I have no problems with a few laughs at my expense... If we can't laugh at ourselves... who can we laugh at

Yeah you're okay Mingie.
Anyway, back to the point - once everyone has had a good laugh, is anyone going to send the save back to me? I.e. in the next 6 hours when I might need it?

Yaroslav knows how the password is stored in files.
BTW, PBEM players ( edit: I found out that many players don't) still 'protect' games using passwords . One year ago at CivFanatics forum I tried to explain them that it is very easy to get that password off. Approx. a half populace started to cry they don't want to know about it and I was immediately banned by SunTzu for a week.

Since it provides no real protection of people peeking at your civ in MP and it might be useful for situations like the one AH stated, I don't think you would be banned if you posted it here.

3 GOTM rules?
Quote:
|
5. Members can cuss and discuss anything; if enough want a change of Status for a technique, then members should directly address the Admin (Duke of Marlbrough) via posts or PMs... The Admin will proceed as he desires, e.g., open a specific thread, do a poll, consider various input, etc. and ultimately decide the timing and scope of the change. Hypothetical example: "Pet Cities are no longer allowed beginning in GOTM 020"; then the item #17 status would be changed to "disallowed" and made boldface.
6. The Admin (DoM) does have the final say on what is allowed and disallowed (not me, Starlifter), and the list will be changed to reflect any new Admin decisions in the future to keep the Status current.
7. The Admin can feel free to directly edit this list (use Mod editing); just add a revision number at the top of this post & update the Revision History (below), plus make a post in the thread so this thread resurrects & everyone knows.

More examples of why I avoid that place.
That thread was pretty funny. The later post about them taking pride in monitoring is freaking hilarious.

Its the same in many settings.........give (otherwise reasonable) people some power, even in the simple setting of a gaming forum, and it goes to their heads and they act like jerks. Apolyton is great because the owners aren't megalomaniacs. Other gaming sites I've posted at are not always similarly blessed.

Ok change it to owners and mods, so that noone feels insulted.
Anyone that frequents gaming forums knows how good Apolyton is, apart from the actual bouts of server trouble these days.

Yeah, I knew that, but it was a bit loosely written.

Hehe, maybe you feel guilty? Have you perhaps been abusing your authority in the RoN forums?

I thought the RoN influx was getting the blame for some of the server load problems.
