OK, now C3C has got me 'Salivating'
Hi Guys,
Just checked the new info on on Gamershell about C3C and I must say that I'm getting increasingly impressed!!!
Although it's not QUITE what I had in mind, for instance, the idea of Capital capture increasing the chance of cultural conversions is still a step in the right direction-of making the capital city more important and RELEVENT!!! Now, if only it is made more difficult to relocate the capital, then we're definitely getting somewhere. The fact that marines get an attack bonus for AA's, and that ships in port suffer double damge, seems to indicate a desire to make units both more flexible AND more useful!!! I also like the sounds of more city specialists-this is sounding better all the time!! Now, if only they have a COMPLETELY open editor (to freely mix and match unit, building and resource flags for instance) and an ability to incorporate EVENTS in the game, then I think I'll be quite satisfied-at least for the time being .
Yours,
The_Aussie_Lurker.

One of the things that has me curious is how ships in port suffer double damage. So far they have been completely safe until the city is taken, but now they have had to change the mechanics in C3C to portray for Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941.

Conquests is sounding like a must buy. However one of the key factors in my decision will be whether they have the editor to match. They say is will be "robust", what a robust editor includes who knows. Any thoughts?

Congratulations. I have no doubt your post has been printed, the subject line circled with a highlighter, and posted to some marketing bulletin board at Atari.
I'm looking forward to this quite a bit myself. It remains to be seen how the product actually works out, but that notwithstanding, from everything I've read - it appears to be a large "Sorry for that bit of messiness with the last PtW XP with all the bugs and what not, but we've been listening and here's something you can really enjoy".

It does seem a bit more attractive than PTW was and I got my monies worth with it.

Wow! I mean, like ZARQUON! Sounds to me like you will be able to SELECT what you bombard, instead of the strongest (ground) unit defending!
That, coupled with competent AI artillery use, could lead to artillery duels even!
(BTW, I know I could be jumping to conclusions here)

It's starting to look awesome, but didn't everyone who dislikes PTW say that about PTW before it came out also. Oh well, all we can do is hope for the best.

All I remember hearing about PTW before it was released was a couple new buildings, 8 new civs and MP.
The list is just a little longer for C3C.

So far, the list of features is unimpressive, I mean who really cares about a couple of new civ traits, citizen types and a host of obscure new governments? However, I can't wait to see ships starting to 'enslave' enemy ships. What an incredibly surreal moment that will be. Let's just hope they're holding back the really juicy details, and that the scenarios are worth spending more than half an hour on ....

Quite promising, and I find the list of features impressive for my part - like a real expansion must be next to PtW which is more of a big patch though I like it as a single-player experience.
Now, CivIII is a harder game than most TBS, and very unpleasant to play at Emperor-Deity especially on huge maps. It's another story on smaller maps, but still I'm stucked at Monarch like the mass of gamers, so are the two additional difficulty levels only there to please the few beating Deity or..perhaps all of them fixed again?

If marines get a special bonus and the editor is improved, those two mix to make an editor that lets you give units bonuses towards attacking other units-making the game WAY more realistic and adding another dimension to it. Think:
Flamethrowers: big bonuses vs. foot and mounted units
Tank destroyers: big bonuses vs. armored units
Mountain troops: bonuses on raised terrain
Alpine troops: bonuses in tundra
The list could go on forever.
I'm about to get PTW, so to warn me what are the big bugs in it? Also, will C3C improve the MP lag and other problems I've heard about?

I hope they haven't changed the difficulty levels. It gives you something to shoot for, and it makes succeeding at those levels a real acheivement.
Besides, if you really need to nerf difficulty, you can do it easily in the editor.

Yes - this was confirmed by Firaxis.

Surely, since he's more than a deity....that means he's THE Creator of the Universe.

I doubt sid could beat sid. Wasn't there a chance at one time (a contest) to play him in MP?

That would be very interesting. I wonder how he would match up with guys like Arrian and Aeson, the elite of Apolyton.

Well, technically, we ARE playing Sid in the ISDG... (although I'll be surprised if Sid really participates).
I remember the "play against Sid" stories too... don;t know whatever happened.
