Best of the Best: Contests 14-17
Best of the Best
Contests 14-17
And once again, it is time to go back and reread the best stories of the past few months. It is time to choose the best piece of fiction from contests fourteen through seventeen. The worthy contestants are as follows:
Contest 14:
Winner: The Culture Flip by Chingis Khan
Second place: Gandhi Kahn the Wise by bassman
Third place: Land of the Brave: The Celt's tale by SKILORD
Contest 15:
Winner: Postmortem: Two Thousand Years Later by vovansim
Winner (tie): Crossing the Rubicon by Civ3King
Third place: My Dinner With Xerxes by Jeremy 2.0
Contest 16:
Winner: The Governor of Vitoria by chairmanmeow
Second place: The Phantasma of Hades by Lord Zalzabad
Third place: Manifest Destiny by SKILORD
Contest 17:
Winner: A Soldier's Arms by Lazarus and the Gimp
Second place: Julius Caesar: A Tragedy in Five Acts by vovansim
Third place: Blessed be the Peacemakers by SKILORD
This, by the way, is, in a way, a historic Best of the Best Contest, because in three of the four contests here, runoff votes were needed to decide the winner. Just tells you a little something about the quality of the contesting stories. So, without further ado, refresh your memory, and cast your vote!

A couple more things: ( )
1. DC, it would be great if you could top this...
2. I made this poll time out in two weeks, because in the last Best of the Best contest, I know some people didn't have the opportunity to vote since it expired in a week. So, now even those of you who come to the forums rarely don't have an excuse not to vote.

Good work vovansim.
Making the poll go for 2 weeks is a good idea since there are much more stories to read than in a regular contest
I topped the thread.

Thanks for your good work vovan and DC, this is going to be a tough choice so much great stuff to read. My head is already hurting its hard enough having to choose in a normal contest.

I'm afraid right now we know exactly who voted and what they voted for.
Some more activity would be very nice folks.
----
On a totally unrelated note... I have been gone for the past few days (weeks? I've lost track of time a little bit) due to a rather unpleasant accident, and I am afraid I will be forced to leave for the next two weeks or so. So, when this contest is over, I won't be around for a while, to update the history, and unfortunately, won't be able to comment on the great stories that have been developing around here lately.
