@ CIV old fans
Hi, I havn't been here since a while, now that Conquests is approaching I feel the needing to ask to old CIV players their opinion about the upcoming Exp. pack.
1 ) What do you think about it ?
2 ) Which is the best and the worst feature you have spotted inside Conquests ?
3 ) Will the amazing Snoopy graphic mod re-produced in order to be again used ?
Thanks
Gunter

I don't know if I count as an Old player, but here are my answers anyway.
1) Looks promising so far, but I'm not getting too excited.
2) If the in-game Editor can produce all the weird effects from the scenarios (plus a couple more) that will be awesome. The new traits and the tweaking of existing Civs is also badly needed.
3) I have no idea. Ask Snoopy.

If you didn't play Civ1 you're a n0000000000000000b!
And for Conquests: If you liked Civ3 it will be a BIG must-have. The expectations on this XP are extremely high and you'll get PTW with it for free.

There are several threads here in the general forum about it (some possibly down to the second or third page by now). For your first two questions those other threads have plenty of answers. As to Snoopy's mod, I have no idea.

I'm a longtimer... I believe that this will be a solid XP, certainly more solid than PTW, and will make Civ 3 into what many wanted it to be.
There are, however, now some very interesting things going on at the CtP2 front .

I reckon I'll buy it. PTW never quite had it for me - multiplay was not my top priority and it didn't do that without problems...
Having all the new features, new tribes and PTW as well is an offer I just can't refuse. What I'm REALLY interested in is the new editor... but hey, even the 1.29 editor is pretty good.
So, it's on my list of things to buy.

You can use Sn00py's graphics whether or not you have PTW and/or Conquests.
You just have to locate them (in the Files section of this forum or on the PTW disk) and copy them to the appropriate folders on your hard drive. Don't forget to backup.

Well, I'll say that Sn00py has updated his graphics for C3C.

Warpstorm is not Sn00py.
Warpstorm is the guy who did the excellent Watercolour graphics mod (included with PTW).
I assume that Sn00py would have to be a Beta tester in order to be updating his graphics for C3C, although I wasn't aware of this before.
Warpstorm is also a Beta tester (as are a few other posters here).
I hope that clears things up.

First I was worried that Conquests would be all about the scenarios, now I'm worried that Conquests is going to make so many changes to the gameplay that we'll have to learn different strategies to beat the game. And to be honest, I can't be bothered learning new strategies to beat this game. If, on the other hand, it changes the game in such a way as to make more existing strategies genuinely viable at higher difficulty levels (i.e., being peaceful, fairer diplomacy in terms of trading with the AI), that would be very nice indeed ....

Which is the concept of " scenario " of Conquest ?
This news warried me a bit, because I hope there won't be " you have to accomplish this or that mission before year X " .
What's the concept of " scenario " inside Conquest ?
Thanks
Gunter

Yes, Gunter, the 9 Conquests are scenarios with a time limit (some very long, some using twisted rule variants). Don't feel bad though, Firaxis and Breakaway didn't forget the main game either.

I wouldn't really consider WWII Pacific Campaign a "mission"-type scenario

From the look of the released screenshots: no they haven't been improved.
New graphics have been added for the new features (like Volcanoes and Swamps) of course, but it still looks the same as before.

It's even for your mod that CIVIII had all the success
Gunter
P.S. We would like to have it for Conquest too, assuming Fireaxis won't forget the big picture of CIV allowing to continue after the end of scenarios, and above all allowing to play freely from 4000 B.C. to infinite, using new units.

Thanks Gunter,
I'm still not so sure if my graphics made Civ3 more of a success, but a lot of people do say so..
