College Is Fantastic
Im really having a lot of fun so far in just the first week of school. although i havent been partying at all i still have been hanging out and building connects and whatnot.
classes are great too. im so happy to finally be at a place where i can learn what i want to and feel like i belong.
also, the neighborhood i live in is kind of ghetto. a guy was shot right across the street from my apartment building and their are nightly crackheads and hookers on the streets around me.
And im eating pretty well so far. george forman grill saved my life.
unfortunately i wont be able to read your replies for another week or so. but lets hear it for college

This is exactly what I wanted to hear (I'll be starting uni in a month and change).
Kudos to you, sir!

You are making me jealous. I often wish I could go back to the days where my biggest worry was getting my paper done in time to make it to the neighbor's party. College is great so enoy it while you can.

The only think thats kind of underwhelming is the massive lack of sexual tension in the air. One girl really likes me but there is no similar feelings and theres no way i would just hook up with her. Im still holding out hope for an orgy of sorts though(although i know it will most likely be an orgy of minitures and dice rolling)

The best is taking courses during the summer. Small class sizes, and a relaxed atmosphere, at the cost of some selection. I give it the SP Seal of aPproval.

University sucked the big hairy one.
But if you're dad is a bajillionaire, and he can afford to 'donate' $10,000,000 to the school of his choice, then you too can enjoy a UCLA degree of your choice!

Then you' are going to the wrong school. My almamater was ranked the #1 party school in the west and #5 over all in the country but I hear it has sobered up alot since then. All that it and was still ranked as one of the top 20 public Universities in the country.

You are thinking of USC (my Grandfather's Almamater). UCLA is state owned and has entrence requirements which require more then just having cash and a heart beat.
In reality USC is also very highly ranked but if you have enough money then they'll let anyone in plus if you pay the full $500,000 over four years tuision costs then they will insure you get a degree at the end of four years even if you fail every class.

If you ever get the opportunity you should Study Abroad - that's what I'm doing right now and it is really great.

I guess each period has it's moments. I honestly can't say college was better or worse than HS. They were good and bad in different ways.
Sure, college had the sex and booze but also had 2-weeks of straight cramming for exams, no-sleep nights, etc. HS you could get an A on a test by studing the class before it... plus, HS romances have a certain magic to them in retrospect. College was too many flings and nothing really serious (at least for me.)

You could always increase the cramming level progressively as the semester goes on. That's what I do. No work in the first two weeks for me.
I really hated high school. I was so depressed and bored. My teachers sucked and my friends were morons.

I find uni incredibly dull. No matter how hard I tried to like it, I hated my first semester, and second, although I didn't hate it, wasn't exactly that much fun.

My problem is the lack of things to do. At home I go out at least 2 nights a week with my mates and have fun, but at uni I hardly go out at all because no-one ever asks me. And hell, it's not like I'm capable of organising anything myself, so I'm left with sod all to do.

In the UK it would be horrible to actually study in your home town, everyone moves away if they possibly can.
