Diplomats: where and what VERSION 2.0
Trying again, at least this gives me the chance to add in Hydey's suggestion of bribing cities (or units).
We currently have 4 Diplomats being supported by the Imperium's coffers - they take money badly needed for military support costs, so we must make them work.
This thread covers the locations of the diplomats in our world and what the FAM sees as viable missions for them. It is, however, the choice of the Imperium's citizens to decide upon this.
Apologies for the lack of screenshots - Apolyton will not let me upload, it seems, so I will attempt again tomorrow morning my time. They should be up within 24 hours. For the time being I will attempt to describe there locations sufficiently.
Diplomat 1
This diplomat is located to the West of the Imperium, far to the South of the closest other civ, the Romans. It is next to a hut. The clear options should be
- pop that hut or leave the job for the Chariot nearby (3-4 turns movement away)?
- continue to explore, or go to the nearest civ (Rome) for bribery/embassy missions?
Diplomats 2 and 3
These diplomats are located at the Eastern edge of the Imperium, near Ruin and Rack, and facing the vast wastelands that separate us from the Americans' lands. Diplomat 2 is on goto orders to a mountain near a small area of unexplored terrain. A larger area of unexplored terrain to the vast North-East is close as well. Diplomat 3 is East of Diplomat 2, 6 turns from the closest know American city, Chicago. There are small areas of unexplored terrain nearby, but not much compared with the area that Diplomat 2 is approaching.
Natural options for these two Diplomats would be:
Diplomat 2: - Continue to the Goto point and then explore to the NE
- Cancel Goto and proceed East to the Americas for Exploration/bribery
Diplomat 3 - Explore the small areas of unknown terrain nearby
- Proceed towards America for exploration/bribery
Diplomat 4
This diplomat is FAR to the North-East, further north of anything, and slightly East of Pestlience, the polar colony of the Imperium. It is on Goto orders to a grassland to the East. This place is still 10+ turns further West of where unexplored terrain is, then it comes close to where the American lands lie.
Options would be:
- continue East and join an Imperium Legion in exploring the world
- head towards America to join diplomats 2 and or 3 in exploring near America, ready for embassy establishment/bribery there
All bribery missions would be decided after the next turns, as it would tak our diplomats long enough to actually get to our distant neighbours. Besides, we have almost zero cash for missions, and we would need to get the cash first.

Apologies everyone, but I still can't seem to upload screenshots. I hope to try one last time tomorrow at work with the high-speed connection, but I can't promise anything. Otherwise just a bump of the real thread and proper poll

Unusual to see opinions so thoroughly divided on a set of polls!

Well, *my* votes were correct, of course. It's just that I'm surprised that so many other people were wrong this time.

Well I'm just glad there are no tied polls here. Whatever the result, a majority decision is a majority decision - whether it's what the Minister wanted or not.

I thought Ministers could veto polls if they did not like them.
oops my mistake, that only happens in real life
