Post your DVD Collection (and ask which titles you should get next)
DVDs collections are the hottest thing on the market right now. I know: I work in a video store. I have my own personal collection, small right now in comparison to some, large in other respects. However, there are SO many good movies out there, I must have them all.
Post your DVD collection, and then name a few titles, and ask which you should buy next.
Here's mine:
Almost Famous
Amelie
American Beauty
American History X
Analyze This
Black Hawk Down
Boondock Saints
Bruce Lee: Story of the Dragon
Cast Away
Catch Me If You Can
Dogma
Donnie Darko
Ferris Beuller's Day Off
The Game
Gangs of New York
Ghostbusters
Godzilla vs. King Kong
High Fidelity
History of the World, Part 1
Hook
Independence Day
Jurassic Park
K-Pax
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Meet the Parents
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Moulin Rouge
Mummy Returns
MST3K: The Brain that Wouldn't Die
Narc
Office Space
One Hour Photo
The Patriot
Peter Pan
Red Dawn
Road to Perdition
The Road Warrior
Royal Tanenbaums
Spaceballs
UHF
Vanilla Sky
Wayne's World
Young Frankenstein
Zoolander
Total DVDs as of 7/24/03: 44
Which should I get:
Batman
The Big Lebowski
Bowfinger
Braveheart
Citizen Kane
Fargo
Fight Club
Forrest Gump
Gladiator
The Matrix
Memento
Mystery Men
Phonebooth
The Postman
The Professional
Punch-Drunk Love
The Shawshank Redemption
Signs
Sixth Sense
Titus
The Truman Show
12 Monkeys
The Usual Suspects
Virgin Suicides

I have about 75 DVDs, and my roommate has about 30+ more...we generally just buy whatever comes out that we're decently interested in.
My latest DVD is "Life of David Gale", which I strongly recommend.

Get those. But get some older films...there is film history before the 1980s. And what about non-english language films?

You'd have to search Imdb for translation of the Title..
sound like too much effort ;=)
So, when appears the Indy-Collection?

My "collection":
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Flash Gordon
Ghost in the Shell
Hana-bi (= Fireworks)
Life of Brian
The Matrix
Memento
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
12 Monkeys
Woodstock
There are a lot of movies I want, but there's no point in asking you because the only reason I don't have them yet is money.
And I find the extras just about the most important part on a DVD. When I buy a DVD, I expect it to use the space available, otherwise I'll just wait till I see the movie next time on TV... That also means I can live without the extras if I don't expect to see the movie appearing on TV anytime soon.
Do any of you do that too, or do you just buy whichever movies you fancy?

Yes, I like extras too, since they are the added value of purchasing the disc, but I also buy some stuff in the bargain bin that I know is good (e.g. Donnie Brasco and Rowan Atkinson: Live were only $5 or so).
These are the DVDs I own:
Bravo Two Zero
Crime Scene Investigation - 1.1-1.12
Donnie Brasco
Gladiator
The Godfather Collection
Ice Age
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Monster's Ball
Ocean's Eleven
Rowan Atkinson: Live
Snatch
The Usual Suspects (SE)
I'm still after:
Charlie's Angels - Season 1
Crime Scene Investigation - 1.13-1.23
L.A. Confidential
Silence of the Lambs (SE)
Rear Window
The Birds

My DVD collection:
http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mycollect...p?alias=Wraith
Note that you'll need cookies on to see it.
I already know what I'm getting next (Twelve Kingdoms just shipped, Haibane Renmei is pre-ordered), but I wouldn't mind some suggestions for Japenese live-action movies.

With the exception of a few (Chinatown, 2001), I really haven't seen many movies between 1950 and 1980 (I haven't even seen The Godfather.) I'm not buying anything I haven't already seen.
As far as Foreign films go, that's just a small list what I want. I also want Princess and the Warrior, Il Postino, Burnt by the Sun, Run Lola Run, Life is Beautiful, and La Femme Nikita.

my entire collection:
"Fight Club", which was given to me as a gift. Interestingly enough, I dfon;t actually own the movie becuase when i opened the package, i found that the DVD with the movie was missing: i assume an eployee stole it. But since it was a gift from another state and so forth, never got it.
My sister has a rather large collection, but that is hers.
I recommend the DVD for Who Framed Roger Rabbit
