What does his avatar look like?
Considering all avatars are disabled, that is rather strange.
EDIT: Unless you are referring to the text add he has.

Yes, I'm referring to the "...Apolyton wear..." text.

Ah, OK. Well, I can see it. It must be stored in a different place than Avatars, then.

Everything at Apolyton is loading a lot faster. Is that what this techno-thingee the thread is about supposed to do? If so, it works. -- Rob, Technophobe & Damned Capitalist

Hi.
I just noticed this thread after wondering for days why I see absolutely no images at apolyton. I'd include a screenshot to this post, but Im having to use the quick reply field here because the 'post reply' button image doesnt show.
Understand that Im browsing with Mozilla 1.0.1 and can see litterally zero images, nothing.
Wait, let me upload an image to my uploads section and link it, maybe that'll work.
Thanks.

Maybe it's that you're only using Moz 1.0.1. Was it working before the change? I'm using 1.3a and everything's fine for me, before and after teh change.

Have you tested it with other browsers?

Yeah, it always worked before the change. It shows up fine in IE. Dling Mozilla 1.4 now...

Whats stranger, is when I right-click where I know a link button should be and select 'view image' (where mozilla then directly shows that image only in the open tab/window) and the image will show up fine.
Not a particularly fun solution. :-\

Would it help the server with load-related issues were avatars also kept on the image server? Perhaps then we could have avatars without increasing load on the primary server much.
Second point, all images when you look at someones profile are shown from the primary server. While there are at most two images per profile (avatar and flag), this unnecessarily increases the load on the primary server.

vBulletin does not offer this option to store avatars on a secondary server, thus, it would be difficult to manually change the 10,000 or so users with avatars to this secondary server, because that is what you would have to do. That, or spend another month or so developing a hack for it.
