What do you actually need mik? Are you talking about an updated driver for your monitor? If so, why can't you download it?

Some where on the forum about a year ago there was a discussion about how to get the game to run on Monitors/video cards that can not handle 1024.
I would say it is in the General as I almost never visit any of the other civs thread, just gen and strat.

I tested it and is gone. Try the files section and see if it was posted there, otherwise maybe someone can att it here, good luck.
BTW here you can get a new moniotr for 30 bucks that will work with 1024.

To play at a non-standard resolution, at least on a PC, add a line "keepres=1" to your Civilization3.ini file. (The file is located in the directory where you installed Civ 3. You can edit it using Notepad or Wordpad.) Adding that line causes Civ 3 to play at the resolution you've been running your monitor at instead of changing to its default resolution. I tried switching to 800x600 resolution and it seemed to work fine (aside from only being able to see a tiny bit of the map at a time; I'm used to 1600x1200). I also tried hitting the "Z" key to zoom out, and I could see a pretty fair-sized area but of course everything was a lot smaller.

If you are playing PtW, I'd assume you need to make the change in the ptw.ini
