The last thing I saw a religious preacher did was ask for $5 in a "generous pledge" to help his bank account in Zurich, erhm, some starving kids in Zimbabwe.

My favorite is Christmas, hands down.
Gifts, wonderful decorations, carols, singing Messiah, and the proximity to New Year's practically guaranteeing at least a week of no work, combine with the start of my favorite season to create the perfect holiday.

I like the holiday that celebrates the arrival of intolerant, black-clad fundamentalists in an otherwise free land, where they immediately began imprisoning, banishing, and even killing all those who did not subscribe to their narrow, dour, repressive version of what they claimed was God's Holy World.
I speak, of course, of the US's Thanksgiving Day.

Remember shoppers, it's only 144 more days until Christmas!

I don't really like holidays. I don't even celebrate chrismas anymore. However, if I had to chose one I would have to be midsommarafton, ie midsummers eve.

Me? Nah. I really do love Thanksgiving best of all; it's a heck of a meal, and it hasn't been commercialized all to hell yet.

Christmas. The slopes are generally not crowded on Christmas morning.
