The Difference Between Clicking on the Thread Name and on the Little Envelope?
When clicking on the name of the top thread in this forum :
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=93078
When clicking on the envelope near the thread name :
http://apolyton.net/forums/t93078-s.html
What's the difference? Is there any?

The HTML link is a hack meant for search engines.
Search engines aren't very fond of PHP and all sorts of other dynamic stuff. The HTML link simply redirects you to the "normal" thread page, but search engines will also be able to find it (and thus index it).

I'm four years on Apolyton, and only now I find out it's possible to click on the enveloppes...

Well, that feature isn't four years old. I believe Markos added it somethime during the Settler I era. But I might be wron on the timeline, but it's not that old.

Why is the current server called Settler II and not Engineer?

Okay, so what's the arrow before the name of the thread about? And why does it only exist on some threads?

It sends you to the last post (it thinks) you saw in the thread. Threads that have no newer posts don't have the arrow either.

It sends you directly to the first unread post.

Why doesn't this direct you to the last post you've read? That would be much more usefull.
For a long time I thought this was how it worked.

It tries to. The problem is it doesn't always know exactly what posts you have read or not.
