Peace Treaty
What is the significance of the number of turns listed after a Peace Treaty? You can still start a war as soon as you want, correct?

youre reputation will go down if you go to war before 20 turns after the war ended. (at least if you start the war back up)

The AI is usually plotting my destruction after we sign a peace treaty.. as I'm plotting theirs.
But I find that unless the first war didn't see too many casualties, the AI won't break the peace treaty before the 20 turns are up, except when you and the AI are the only civs left.

That's personally why I'd like to see a return of the "Cease Fire" as a diplomatic option!!! That way, you can end your hostilities but, if they REALLY piss you off, you can simply attack them w/o any negative diplomatic consequences!! Of course, cease fires would also be a neccessary prelude to signing a peace treaty with someone you've been at war with!! It also exists in real life-after all, just look at the Korean Peninsula!!

I would think any attack under cease fire would have a rep hit as well. Maybe not a hard. Yes you can have cease fire with or with out peace.

Cease Fire would be a nice addition. Sometimes I just need five turns to move my units into place. I hate having to wait 20 turns to attack them again. Especially when they have a couple of empty cities right on my borders.

Yeah it basically is a cease fire. And then you can renegotiate the peace for another 20 turns, etc. Perhaps if when you sued for peace, you could choose the duration of the treaty

Hmmm, actually, a cease fire is different from what you're describing Panag!!
What I mean is, you're actually AT WAR with someone, and they come to you offering a cessation of hostilities. This way, you are technically still at war, but you have a written agreement that, for now at least, neither party will attack the other (something which might be coupled with a demand to remove ALL troops from the enemy's territory, and vice versa). I'm not sure whether cease fires should come with a deadline, as peace treaties do, but if they did I think they would have to be variable!! Once a cease fire agreement lapsed, you would be free to attack them without a reputation loss. Even if you didn't wait for an expiry, though, an attack would not cause the same loss of rep as if you had a peace treaty with them!!! Again, just think of North and South Korea as a working example of a cease-fire, compared with a peace treaty!!!
