What about:
Rugby - England to end Southern Supremacy
Rugby - Sitting at the top of the world
Rugby - North vs. South
Rugby - Engage!
Rugby - Is there a referee in the room?

Ignoring that "humming as high as a hippy" bait - how about Rugby - the World in Union
|
Oh no, that brings back too many memories of '95.
Although I would like to have something that refers to the RWC...how about Rugby - The 2003 World Cup ...or something like that?
The other thing to think about is that we still have a month to go before the RWC starts, so any thread we create now will probably be half-full (at least) by then. So we will probably need another title for the thread that will be started in the middle of the tournament.

Yep. Caligastia is right.
I think we should wait... mmm... in my opinion we should open the thread one week before the beggining of the tournament (or even less than a week... around 4 days)

Do you think that with a month to go that the amount of posting will go up?
The thread in use could be closed for an "official" WC one .
Oh & btw my suggestion is
Rugby - Foot up English Hooker

Our threads usually average about two months. It depends how well Tamerlin can control his urge to post s. We have some new and returning posters, but I don't think we'll fill a thread before the start of the WRC. Subject, of course, to Tamerlin's s.
Anyway, I can't see anything wrong with starting a new thread with a WRC title. It will expire during the event, so we can call the subsequent thread Part 2. Better that, I think, than starting a new thread with a non-WRC title and abandoning it when the WRC starts.
I don't suppose Rugby - When Too Many Tamerlin s Isn't Enough! fits the bill.

Actually I think Finbar is right - we should start a RWC thread now and call the next one part 2. So...what's it gonna be? Just the generic suggestion I made, or something else?

I wonder if the RWC marketing bods have come up with a slogan. I'll check.
In the meantime, suck on this one:
Rugby - England Forwards Eligible For Pensioner Discounts!

I have a few suggestions!
Rugby World Cup - Blood, Sweat, and Pommy Beer Pots!
Rugby World Cup - Grizzly Grazes Await Pensioner Poms!
Rugby World Cup - Watch Fat Pom Forwards Sweat Putrid Pork Pies!
I quite liked Tamerlin's short and sweet Rugby - Engage! but it doesn't make reference to the RWC.
How about :
Rugby World Cup - Countdown to Crunch Time!

I think you're on the right track with the last one. But I'd shorten it to Rugby - Crunch Time!. It's evocative, and we all know what it means. I checked the WRC website and there doesn't - yet anyway - seem to be any sort of marketing slogan. Which is probably a good thing.

Sounds good to me.
I am getting practically no chance to post at the moment.
I didn't take this job to work damn it!

It's okay. In your absence, we rely on Tamerlin for the drivel quota.

Relax - he is confusing our insightful commentaries on world rugby with drivel for some reason.
I see McCrae has grown up - his move to Gloucester has been delayed for at least another month after he was sent off playing for Sydney club Randwick. He called the touch judge a cheat.
