I'm finally buying a guitar.
Yep, I'm finally going to do it, learning to play guitar is something I've always wanted to do but somehow never got around to.
I was thinking of buying this one, ( the mexican version, not US. Yep, I already learned something )
image and some info
Anyone with some experience wanting to share his view or advice, please do.
(uninformed opinions are welcome too,...... like it would stop you people if they weren't .... I've been around here too long * sigh * )
I'm completely illiterate so all help is welcome.
For the time being I'm going to save on the amplifier and hook it up on the PC, the reason being that it allows for a better guitar and time to save to buy the amp. later
The only reservation I have, is this one suited for rock music, I heard it today in the shop and I liked it but I might want something, mmm, more raw (perhaps not the best word to describe it, rock should cover it).
So, thoughts?
Thanks
Damn, wrong forum

They will move it eventually- if they don't lock it first

Yeah, I know, the moment I hit Submit I noticed it.
I've been looking for a mod, but no-one seems to be on.
I guess I'll have to report my own thread
( If one does catch it, please move to the OT and my apologies for being an

Although the most humorous of late.
I bought a fridge recently, and it was delivered this morning. Now I can fit more than 1 item in the freezer before it is full!

Nice!! You'll like the humbucker, its a great pickup, make sure you know how to use it on its own (theres a slider thing by the tremalo arm).
Start off by finding chords (NOT TABS ) on the internet - go to google, type in the name of the band in speech marks, song in speech marks, the word "chords" and "olga" which is the online guitar archive which rules. Start playing stuff to that, if you don't know the chord shapes, go to a chord generator thing, learn how to read these things, then move onto tabs.
Also, get a teacher!

Some thoughts alva:
Definitely spend the money on the guitar rather than the amp to start off with. There's no point getting a crappy amp and a good guitar will sound nicer through whatever you put it through.
That fat strat is a very flexible guitar and can do most things pretty well. If you want that big fat rock sound you might consider looking at a few Gibsons (I've got an Epiphone Les Paul which I use regularly for giging and it's a nice guitar.
The other thing is that you don't even need to spend that much on a good beginner guitar. Yamaha's Pacifica series are excellent beginner's guitars and an absolute bargain. You can get them in the two single coil and bridge humbucker configuration from that strat as well. My housemate has one that I use as a spare for gigs and I've been thinking about getting myself one for that purpose as well although I might just get another really nice guitar when I get my bonus this year.
Good luck!
