All you ever wanted to know about global warming but were afraid to ask
In preperation for the UrbCiv project I did some research on global warming.

First of all, it seems like global warming is hardcoded and the tiles it changes cannot be modded.

First round of global warming triggered at pollution tiles = 10, second round at pollution = 45. The second time around is less severe, though that's mostly because most of the flooding and desertification that can take place has taken place. Had the jungles and swamps been cleared it Round 2 would be equally severe. Round 3 takes place at pollution=100 and does similar damage. If no terraforming is done, after Round 3 there is very little grassland or forest left. There is a scattering of plains.

Here's what it does to different tiles.

Grassland:
May turn into Swamp, particularly if on coast.

Forest:
May turn into Jungle if on coast, Plains if inland, though I have seen Forest --> Plains on coast, but no Forest --> Jungle inland.

Plains:
May turn into Swamp if on coast, Desert if inland.

Desert:
May turn into Swamp if on coast.

Jungle, Swamp, Glacier, Tundra, Mountain, Hill, Ocean: No Change.

This is too valuable to let get buried. Shouldn't it be moved (along with Additional Planetary Climate Settings ) to SL: Civ2 Creation Hints, Tips, and Guides? Or is that assigning it to oblivion?
