Americans: Which person on the other party would you vote President?
Ok, say GW suffers a heart attack and decides not to run. Now the Republican primary is hotly contested, and Apolytoners get to vote to count in both primaries.
Unfortunately, the ballots were mixed up and Democrats have to vote for a Republican, and Republicans have to vote for a Democrat. BUT THERE IS A CATCH! You have to vote for the guy you'd most like to see President (instead of the one you'd think would be the easiest for your party to beat), because... well let's just say mind control and be done with this silly hypo .

I can't say I'd vote for any of those guys.
Though I'd vote for Putin.

I would probably vote for Lieberman if the above choices were all that was available. (Although it would be a reluctant vote)

I picked Kerry myself. He's a very smart guy, and I'd think he'd do the right thing, even if I don't agree with him on stuff .

I picked Ridge: he did a good job in Pennsylvania, and I prefer his temperment to McCains..to bad he got stuck with a useless jok of a job.

Pataki
He's done wonders for the NY economy! Gives us the opportunity to "share the love" with the rest of the nation.
Hmm, why not Bloomberg?

Pataki is a very popular governor. I said, why not. After all, I did put Bob Graham on the Dem primary side.

Sava, would it pain you to read an opening post?
NONE of the Republican people are legitimate primary candidates, because they have the Presidency! Sheesh!

Not anymore, after the budget fiasco (when the legislature got together and *****slapped them) and with the MTA fiasco. He has lost a lot of political allies in the state who are not happy with him. But he did get away with the same stunt Davis pulled..thankfuly, NY likes their politics dirty and byzantine, not byzantine and insane.

No, I was saying Pataki was the best choice out of the available Republicans. Just don't believe a word he says when he talks about the budget. (And he ain't that popular around here any more, BTW)

Well he's at 50%  .
I probably should have put Guiliani, but I don't think he'll ever run for President.

But you could have at least pick realistic imaginary primary candidates. McCain won't ever run again. Pataki and Jeb aren't realistic either.

Where have you been? Pataki's approval is at an all-time low due to his budget mismanagement. Last I saw it was down to 43-45%.
His negative ratings on issues are worse:
30 - 62 percent for handling education;
28 - 66 percent for handling taxes;
29 - 63 percent for handling the economy and jobs;
36 - 44 percent for dealing with the State Legislature.
(The first number is approval, the second disapproval)

That is news to me..damn upstaters, bunch of cow lovers! BUt Pataki still burned a lot of political bridges over the budget fiasco, and in NY that matters.
Guiliani doesnt stand a snowball's chance in hell of becoming president.

I did... governors. And if Bush bowed out this year, I BET McCain would run in a heartbeat.
Who else would you have put?

I bet if he ran, he'd have a very good chance. Just because you NYers don't like him doesn't mean he isn't revered everywhere else... and even BEFORE 9/11.

Yeah, I'm sure the Republicans will nominate him when his primary opponents get the pictures of him marching in the Gay Pride parade and dressed in drag.

Hmm, lets see, he is a republican who: supports gay rights, dressed in drag for a show, supports abortion rights, is catholic, has had a sordid sex life. Yeah, he gets by the republican primaries. I can just see Falwell fawning over him.... And no, dems would not run him.

Ok, really liberal NYers don't like him .
And Boris, with the 9/11 thing and the good shot at victory, I think Republicans might forget that . The abortion issue may be tougher to crack.

The first time he barely won, and Dinkins had had a rocky admin. The second time he won more decisively, but then his policies got him in trouble. if it were not for 9/11 few would have mourned his passing as major.

We've had it with the guy. He's too anti-gun and anti-property for either the south or southwest. He's also pro-choice and pro-gay - that seals his fate in the south. I don't know **** about the mid-west so I won't speculate. He might have a shot in the Northwest - but to pro-gay/pro-life/anti-gun for Naziville (Idaho) and not environmental enough for the coast.
Nah, Guiliani ain't going to be president unless there is a major political shift.
