Disabling RR production bonuses
Short of getting rid of the Railroad technology, is there any means of preventing the complete and utter railroading of the map to get the extra trade and production?
Also, what determines whether a terrain square gets a +1 Trade from having roads? Is it if the square has a move cost of 1?

I think only certain terrain slots get the +1 bonus from roads.
Don't know about the railroads.

Checked it in game, it's definitely the terrain slots. Desert, Plains, Grassland. Tundra doesn't.
RRs increase shields and trade by 50%, rounded down.
In Civ I they had RRs also increase food. They got rid of that in Civ 2 so that maps wouldn't end up being RR'd to death. However, if you run a Republic or Democracy, every single terrain square is going to generate either at least 2 trade or 2 shield when roaded or mined. Thus it gets RR'd.

RR doesn't increase trade, it roads what increase trade , so why would you build a RR in a standard grassland or plain square other than for the 0 movement cost bonus?
