I am one of the people who enjoyed reading/following History Of The World diplo game very much. I have ever since wished to once participate in such a game. Good luck

In any event, the earliest I'll get up is 5am and online by 5:15 or so.... it usually takes an hour to get these sessions started anyway!
I'll be slightly annoyed if I get up this early and the full crew aren't here!

Yeah, I played in HOTW2. I wonder if the threads are still available?

I dunno, I looked for that Diplo FAQ Cap started (and I expanded) but I couldn't find it. That had links and rosters to all the Diplogames on record. Its also a lot more current than the HOTW2 threads.
It looks like its all gone. It makes me very upset too, we all spent quite a lot of time working on those games. They weren't just random pick up games or the other kind of crap that goes on in these forums (no offense to everyone, heh) they were works of art. Long hours were spent by lots of people to make maps, and write stories and everything else.
The website is still around. http://www.geocities.com/history_of_the_world/
but it doesn't have any of the ending stuff on there. Like the great Mongol election and our subsequent butt kicking at the hands of our Chinese and Aussie neighbors.

I can't find them either.
They seem to have threads going back a year and that's it.
The archive thread is empty. Ming, any chance can you let us know if we can get access to these older threads? Many of us really enjoyed them. I hope they are saved somewhere. I wish I'd saved some of them to my hard drive, which I'm now doing for some of the threads in the last year.

This is sounding a bit dicey.
I'm prepared to commit to getting up early when it's clear we have a crew available for a long running game.
I never noticed that time thing! Thanks atawa.... LOL

Basicly a 5-player game thats continued over multiple sessions where diplomacy and roleplaying are all part of the game.

Have you started these games yet? I would like to join, if possible.
Does roleplaying mean you play on a pre-selected map with set starting positions (scenario)? Does diplomacy mean treaties, alliances, etc?

A premade map would be ok if we can find a good one.
I would realy like to start this at tuesday september 9.
Hope we can get enough reliable players together before then.
Rules have to be decided on by majority vote.

Atawa, after our icq conversation I believe we don't need a pre-made map. If anyone gets in a bad starting position, he'll have a chance to offset it on diplomatic front.

VetLegion, does this mean you are playing too? And yes, all nationalities are welcome.
Forgive me for answering in English, but my Macedonian is embarrassing.

LjCvetko, I'm Croatian
Yes, I would be interested in playing too. I am in the GMT+1 timezone. 20:00 would be earliest I can play, I would be more comfortable with an hour or two later, but if it suits everybody else, I'll adjust.
And if this is a serious diplogame we need rules decided upfront. I suggest taking rules from an earlier diplogame.

Oprosti, napisao sam odgovor bez razmisljanja. Kad sam ponovo procitao tvoj post shvatio sam si ti taj Hrvat koji nam treba, kad vec imamo Srbina u grupi. Eto, zbunila me Makedonska zastava. Nema veze. Cini sa da na Apolytonu ima vise Hrvata nego Srba, zar ne?

"A premade map would be ok if we can find a good one."
My world map is always available. Its the best around for gameplay, accuracy, and all 'round fun. Specially designed for HOTW2, and the best world map ever made.
I always like real world maps for diplogames, that allows the players to assume real nationalities and its easier for us folks following along at home. Better to see the Germans march their legions into the mideast than to see the Egyptians drive their chariots from one side of the stringy clump of land to the other side of the stringy clump of land. Just really helps with the role playing, helps give people roles.

atawa, since you are the one who started the thread you are the organizer of this, right?
So if it is not too much trouble, can you tell us the up to date information on:
- What is the list of participants?
- What are the rules for the game?
- Which map will be used?
- How long are the playing sessions going to be?
And ofcourse, when is the definitive date and time of start.

Ja sam vidio postove od nekoliko Hrvata, nekoliko Srba, po jednog Makedonca i Slovenca, a kladim se da ima i ostalih, ipak je ovo velik forum. Nisam radio tocan skor. A u zastave se ne mozes pouzdat

Is there any particular reason why we wouldn't play city bribe?
What is going to be the map size, and more importantly, before anything else, is it going to be deity 1x1x or king 2x2x? Or something in between?
It would be nice to have at least one player more, though.
You guys surely have more experience, but what is the point of having only 3 wonders per player. To check the frontrunner? I don't think so, for the frontrunner will most likely build the Hanging Gardens, Mick and a third wonder of his choice and be largely unstoppable if left to expand.

I agree about the world map. Also, the rules seem ok but shouldn't there be more of them? I was pretty sure there were quite a few established rules for diplogames, but I might be wrong. I didn't visit this forum for ages.
I would go for deity 1x1x, double movement would distort the game. I am not sure about production. Input from expirienced diplogamers appreciated.

Hmm, about city bribes, I am not sure about the origin of that rule. Cities are too cheap?

I think that on a map this big, cities would be terribly cheap. If you go on an invasion the defender can construct a diplo defense far too easily, since cities that were formerly his are even cheaper to buy back.

If there's no city bribe, Great Wall is becoming extremely important, don't you think?
At any rate, if the majority is against the city bribe, so be it. It certainly seems like it from my point of view.
