Yeah, I started in Australia in HOTW2 and wanted the Lighthouse, but drake just beat me to it. I had to use the Antarctic to get around and was lucky to colonise the northern part of South Am. drake already had the south and East.

It is interesting. I would have many many more cities if it wasnt for an early war with the Frigians (germanos). I have written the story and I'll put it up as soon as I upload the images, some time today.

Amazing how well the Chinese came back after being surrounded and left AI for so long. To Prom's credit.

interesting to compare those details Deity . it is incredible the comeback that prom did with the chinese as by end game he was certainly one of the largest civs. must have been his peaceful nature. i know the poor israelis were bottled up and couldnt expand any further due to mali to West, Europeans to north and mongols to west. Which is why when i took over i did everything i could to start war !!!! LOL

Yea, I was in the same situation as the Arabs in HOTW3, but no one understood or accepted my being warlike and the game collapsed (among other reasons). Tough to be boxed in.

You were playing king, not deity, deity!

You can't compare the two

Yeah, some strings have been messed up for me too. In F3 menu for example, the thing in parentheses is hieroglyphes.

We have to be very careful with editing the rules.txt. Perhaps some editors (Word?) add some extra characters that screw it up or something.

Stories from an MP newby
Well, you learn something new everyday.

Today I found out that my allies know all the techs I posses! Duh! I was allready wondering why people were so keen on signing alliances upon meeting them, but now I know

We had a killer session tonight, where apparently something was rotten in the rules file. In the end, since the names of the players were screwed from session one, I ended up negotiating with the Chinese, who I though to be winzity (lightblue), but it was in fact atawa, the Maori

Trying to keep the pace in the game, I did wonder why he needed literacy, that I thought I had gotten from him (well, I mean winzity here), but I thought: well what the heck, I want his tech anyway

I can't find anything wrong with my rules.txt, so I post it here again, with a few modifications:
All ships now have movement +2
Ruler name of the Ethiopians: Haile Selassie
Ruler name of the Chinese: winzity
Ruler name of the Maori: atawa
Ruler name of the Slaven: Slaven

Please check if you find anything weird when using this rules.txt. At least I don't get all the weird caracters in the F3 screen anymore. When I load one of our saves with this, all seems OK (exept for the leaders names, but I guess they are 'hard coded', and should be altered manually when we start the next session.
