If you had $7500CDN/$5500US and 10 days off in early Sept., where'd you go?
I'm serious, throw suggestions at me baby!
Kinda late notice, so Hawaii and stuff is probably out of the question.

Probably Tierra del Fuego
But wouldn't you rather save the money for a new megacomputer that is truly a sight to behold?

Already budgeted for.
My new laptop came yesterday, funds for the desktop are in the savings account for early November.

Bring Zylka to Lexington, Virginia one weekend to see me. On one of those weekends I can have visitors I think. We can all party.

If I were you, I'd head for the island nation of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Last September (their Spring), I stayed at the Ocean Villas in Grande Baie and had a wonderful time! Find a hotel here
It's a beautiful tropical paradise, part of the British Commonwealth. 95% literacy rate and employment rate. Almost everyone is tri-lingual: English, French and a local Creole. The island is about 1/2 Hindu-Mauritian, 1/3 Arab-Mauritian and 1/6 European-Mauritian.
The roads are a little nutso-wacho, but other than that, the place is great!

Vegas, possibly.
Here's the question, are you going with anyone? It's no fun to go by yourself, so what I would do is split the money in half and pay for a friend (preferably, in my case, of the opposite sex) to go with me, and plan accordingly.

Vegas sounds pretty good, but like David said, it's not so fun alone.
I suggest you do ACTION VACATION! Something dangerous enough to make you pee in your pants, but safe enough for it to be border line legal.
The good thing is, you have a nice set of cash, so you can pretty much do most things with style.
How about.. sky diving in some beautiful place? You have to do something.. it'll last longer in your memories!
With that money, you'll even buy me a ticket to come with you! I don't mind if you want to check out my butt, but you can't do any nasty things with it.
Or...10 days in Whistler? Skiing or snowboarding and TOO MUCH DRINKING! Sounds like fun to me!
But I figure you can do this anyway living in Canada, so maybe you want to see something else, and you don't need that much of money to go skiing in Whistler, and alone it's not that fun.
Or you can take $1000, drink horrible loads of booze, and buy something really nice to your mom with the rest of the money.

Um. Early Sept, Pekka. Not ski season.
BTW, what's there to do in Finland? That'd be cool to go see for a bit.

you can experience weighlessness

What's here to do? Loads of things. You can for example drink yourself silly! We have the cheapest booze and the best service
If you hit Europe though, you could like fly to Sweden, check out Stockholm or something special, then take a cruise boat to Finland (that is actually cheap) and get horribly drunk the whole way. Just watch out those youngsters who all drank too much, they can be pretty aggressive
Seriously though, I don't know what to recommend. I guess we have something you would like, but I'd go to central Europe maybe if I was you, since you have only 10 days. I figure trip to Europe could be nice, but you'll have to settle for something special and not try to see everything in 10 days in several countries, as that would suck.
Or go somewhere warm, like Jamaica. Get high, dance to reggae and check out nude people, there could be some cruise boats as well.

Ted Striker, I WAS thinking EXACTLY that a moment ago. It's $3500 US. I saw that on discovery channel not too long ago . That would be unique thing to do.

Sweden is too Snapcase-y.
So is Jamaica.
How about Hong Kong? What's there?
