PEACE tech exchange questions
There are few issues at hand.

Cuspidore BrownBeard has requested a delay of two instead of one turn. Therefore please vote whether:
-you don't want to delay our research.
-you want to delay it with one turn
-you want to delay it with two turns

Personally I'll vote one turn. If it turns out they can't get IndBase next turn, we can always fullstop our research for one extra turn.

Then there's the proposal Hercules made. We get IndBase and IndEcon. They get:

-IndAut
-a future tech (rather vague, who knows they'll ask for Nonl Math right after we research it )
-55 credits

Please vote with a simple YEA or NAY.

Question three:

What's the maximum of credits you want give to the Pirates to let the deal go on.

You have two days to vote, though I'll of course already need to make a decision in eight hours.

Oh yes, I made the following comparison:

Quote:
I was interested to calculate the advantages each party would be getting if this deal goes on. I counted a tech as worth 150 credits for easiness, though our research costs are currently lower and theirs higher.

They get:
+150 credits by not having to research IndAut
+150 credits by not having to research a future tech
+55 credits
A total of 355 credits profit.

We get:
+150 credits for not having to research IndBase
+100 credits for not having to research IndEco (not 150 because we could buy it from the Angels for less)
-15 credits because we would still have to spend some labs on researching IndAut, with the inefficiency and all that
-55 credits being paid to them
A total of 180 credits profit.

So they are making double the profit we are making. A very uneven deal indeed. They will probably explain that difference in profits by saying you had to pay 100 credits for IndBase. But I don't buy that. They may not need IndBase right now, making it seem worthless now, but it is necessary later on. So I really doubt that makes a difference in profit of 175 credits justified.

They give us:
Industrial Base
Industrial Economics

We give them:
Industrial Automation
Some PRE-ORDANED future tech
25 EC for the costs they had to incur

As for which tech we should give them, I am personally in favour of something like Ethical Calculus... useful, but not in a war- or economy-sense. Plus, something that's not too high up the tech tree.

I'm unsure about your posts. Is the "ignore this" meant about this poll or about your (double?) post? And is the deal you describe in the second post in some mail you received, or is it your personal opinion? I assume the latter, but I want to be sure.

The "ignore this" was in reference to the double post. The deal was something that I think would be more fair... I really don't like the idea of them have a 'free tech' card hanging over our heads.

I agree completely with Corellion. I voted delay 1 turn, Nay to the proposal, and 30ec (though maybe go higher, not too sure).

I say a tech is worth 100ec, meaning they get 100+100+55-15 (their changing)=240 and we get 100+100-55-15=130. I think that deal, with 30ec, and with them statiung which future tech they want, and I'll vote yes. Possibly up to 50 if needs be.

Actually, since we both gain, if we can agree what future tech they want, I would give them the 55ec just to get this over with. I have sent a mail to Herc that I will copy to the diplomacy thread, trying to broker a deal. I have said that if they can go lower than 55ec, and will state what tech they want, I will put it to the people. If they offer 40 or less, I would be for it, as we need this deal.

Let us hope.
