UTILITY: Conquests and PTW KeepRes
It's so small it doesn't deserve it's own thread
This little program will set your Civ3 Conquests/PTW to the same resolution as your desktop. It's useful if you want to run the game at something higher than 1024x768 and don't want to manually edit the ini files. Don't use this if your desktop is smaller than 1024x768.
Download from Mil-Sim - about 50kb.
Instructions:
1. Download
2. Run once, click Next
It just can't get any easier than this.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
You get the picture here, I'm sure. since I'm running on a 1280x1024 screen and a good graphics card I had hoped that the proggie would allow larger sizes.

Well, you just install the executable in the main Civ folder and it works magic, sort of. What is re-done is/are the various aux screens like the city screen and the advisors. I'm using the PowerBar trainer and it would paste itself over the City screen so that I couldn't see the city view button. Now I can. Just "set it and forget it"!

There is no such thing. KeepRes just runs in the background and controls how the main proggy does it's thing. All that happens is that some of the aux screens in CivIII show in the desktop resolution. For instance, I run in 1280x1024 but the game does not. Now after installing KeepRes the window which opens for, say, the city view is in the 1280 res instead of the 1024 res which is the game std. Same for the window which opens when you double click on a city. It used to fill the screen but now there's a border around it because it's displayed in 1280 but hasn't the size to fill the screen. The explanation is WAY more complicated than actually DOING it. Try it, you'll like it. YMMV, of cuss.

I still had a copy on my HD.
So I just put in on my website:
www.infoorion.com/civ3/PTWKeepRes/PTWKeepRes.exe
But Maciek still needs to patch it for Conquests or release the source code so that we do it. depending on how he wants it upgraded

I have made a makeshift C3C KeepRes. It's not a professional .exe that does everything for you, but it works.
Unzip this file into your Conquests folder. For most people that is C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests. It will ask you if you want to overwrite, and you say yes. Then you can play happily at your desktop resolution.
Once maciek gets around to it, he can make a neat little utility. I'm not trying to steal his thunder or anything.

No offense, but why not jsut add KeepRes=1 to the .ini file and then you won't have to bother

Some people are afraid of doing it themselves.
If you do it yourself, make sure that you add KeepRes=1 after the first line, which says [Conquests].

Hello people!
I think I am in the right place. but here's my question: I think about a year ago I saw a couple of wonderful words on this forum about a program that changes screen resolutions with no additional drivers! If you could remember what that program was, please mail me on player_dos@inbox.ru, I'd be most graetful to you
Cheers

I'd advise against simply overwriting the old file with Jaguar's INI file because you will lose your existing settings.
Download the new version of this utility for Civ3: Conquests from the downloads section at MRSI.

Just wondering, how did you circumvent the problem?

What problem? The program simply adds or changes the KeepRes line in conquests.ini file.
