Got one - or rather I didn't as my work computer has ActiveX disabled. This was about 2 1/2 hours ago.

Well, I've changed my style to the ultralight...and I just got bitten by Gator again. Of course, it took 2 days for it to happen. But it did happen. So changing your style is not a cure for stopping Gator from latching on to you...

Witt: I think he means the colour scheme you have chosen for your windows.
I'll say what he was too polite to say: It looks........scary

Oops, sorry, I guess you both misunderstood my last post. I agree that FlameFlash's color sceme is, well, scary to say the least. Oh, and I'm not FlameFlash. I am Wittlich. I guess one can get easily confused between the names...
My post was in relation to Gator itself. I read earlier on this thread that if you have the ultra light special style, you will not get bitten by Gator. Well, I changed my style to the ultra light setting (though I did not like the style), I was still nabbed by Gator. So your choice of styles while surfing Apolyton has no effect on if and when Gator tries to nab you (if you're using IE). Of course, after my latest Gator incident, I have gone back to my original style (plain ol' Default Special).

I was using Win98 until only last month, when I finally upgraded to XP.
It's a money issue... upgrading to XP is insanely expensive if you don't have a pirated copy around.
With that out of the way, back on subject...
I've gotten 2 more Gator ads in the past 3 days. That's actually down in frequency from what it was before, but it's still there.
I haven't seen anything that spectatcularly stands out in my history file, though.

Hmm. I just caught gator. I got the source of the page that causes gator to pop-up, but all it says on this page is 'please wait'. The code causes it to pop-up under the bottom of your screen, and I think it has an auto timer to shut itself after.
About two seconds before gator pop-ed up I got this ad, but I closed it straight away, so I dont know what it was advertising. When I try to open it now, it just auto shuts my browser. My history has this ad as happening the same minute the gator poped up. Also the number of visits to this site co-incide with the number of visits to the webpdp.gator site.
http://z1.adserver.com/w/cp.x;rid=25;tid=2;ev=1;dt=3;ac=7;c=817;
Interestingly enough, the images.adflow site that gator opens after you close it is giving 404 errors. Are these the ads you have stopped for the time being?
This is the source code that causes gator to pop up. You need to rename it to a .html ending to have the full gator experience.

I just got gatored again. Same procedure as every time. I wish we could tie z1.adserver to something
Snotty: From which URL did you get that sourcecode??

My God! Someone actually downloaded Snotty's link inorder to experience Gator?!? So, who was sadistic enough (or should I say bold enough) to try it? Did you rename the file to a .html ending?

Well, my last attachment directly ties z1.adserver to Gator...but Dan has been silent concerning the "smoking gun."

that was the url of the source page. I used ad-aware about 1 hour before and all I had been doing was browsing poly.

It works fine, I don't see a need to upgrade.
Before I got my new computer I used Win 95.

I think thats the address of the ad that pops up after you close gator. It would make sense that they pop up an ad from their company.
Is there a possibility they put another companys ad in as a red herring? It seems pretty crazy to me to be advertising for someone else..

Just to confirm - Gator is still with us - from a blank window with rydium.tmpl as the only readable bit ...
