Reading Festival tomorrow!
Is anyone going?
To those who are not British and so probably have not heard of it, the Reading Festival is a rock/indie/dance music festival, lasting 3 days, held in Reading. There are about 100 bands playing, including Metallica, Linkin Park, The Polyphonic Spree, Blink 182, Placebo, The Darkness, Staind, Blur, Beck, The Music, Junior Senior and Finch (way to many to mention), over 5 stages, and a comedy stage. It's pretty big (about 120,000 tickets sold IIRC).
I got a ticket off ebay, and going up tomorrow (sadly couldn't get up for the pre-party tonight). I can't wait, this is going to be fantastic
If anyone is going, or even has gone already, please post stories and pics afterwards. It's going to be a riot (literally )

Have you seen The Polyphonic Spree live (IIRC they've done most of their touring in Texas)? One of the highlights for me. 30 people, dressed in large white robes, playing many instruments (from electric basses to harps) and singing

No, I've not seen that. Also sounds good.
Clapton was the last I saw, and that was a year ago.

I wanted to go to the UK when this was on, but sadly, I'll be going to the army in a couple of days, so there is no way I can attend.

Yeh, they're really a pop band with little credability. The Polyphonic Spree isn't pop, in any sense. And since when did you even listen to the album? It might take a couple of listenings, but waking up to "Have a Day/Celebratory" is quite a feeling

4 seconds of the video on mtv2 is more than enough to form a valid opinion!

Metallica's current tour has been recieved very well by critics and fans alike. Maybe it's partly because apart from two new songs and three smash hits from the Black Album, every song they'll play for you is from the classic era.

*Bumped for MikeH* will write up about it tonight and post. Suffice to say, it was a fantastic weekend, with many great bands, until the last band, when it all went horribly wrong
And to all you uncultured people (looking at elijah) who don't like The Darkness, I defy you to see them live and still feel that way. I was very much converted, as they rock live oh so well!

The Darkness were great. The Mars Volta were probably the best thing I saw musically. They played two songs over their 45 minute set... well, no gap between them so really I guess it was only one 45 minute song but it had elements of 2 of the tracks from their album.
I didn't really see that many bands over the weekend, was a bit hot. Had a great time though.

Coming from someone who likes the Ku Klux Kl... I mean the Polyphonic Spree??
The Darkness suck! The guys voice sucks. Their lead guitarist rules. Their hair sucks. Their videos suck. And I though the Foo Fighters were homo-erotica!

You've heard one song and only seen a video. You manage to dislike the Polyphonic Spree after hearing a few seconds (your words). You can't understand how people don't like old music yet you don't like any new music (or hardly any). Their guitar work is brilliant, as you say. You don't like them because of the video and hair? The guys voice is great, it's like the BeeGees n drugs and rock!

I saw a bit of that, and was impressed, but by the I was *badly* sunburnt, and needed to get soem aftersun. They sounded cool though. Did you see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? I still think Blur were the highlight, but going from the Darkness, to Placebo (near the front) to The Polyphonic Spree on the first night was amazing.

Actually, they were on half an hour earlier. I caught the first half hour then went to see Metallica and didn't miss any. Even got myself to quite a bit in front of the tower coming in that late.

I'm right now listening to the new stereophonics album, downloading White Stripes Elephant, and checking if Audioslave are playing in Britain in the near future (and writing this post obviously ...I'm not Linux or a woman... I cant multitask).
