Space: the final frontier
"Ground Control, this is Navigator III, we are making our first orbit around Ganymede. Our signals will be soon blocked by the satellite."
After a very long time, which is what takes radio waves to travel the vast vaccum between earth and Jupiter.
"This is Ground Contol, be prepared to investigate the anomalities Comet I recorded and sent back."
"All instruments are functioning and ready to go."
"Captain, approaching the shadow area."
"Very good, Tom. Activate the computer for programmed radar scans. We will be using the same frequencies that Comet I used, and will look at the same areas."
Tom Patel rapidly enters a sequences of commands on the computer console. Outside the space ship, an array of microwave radars whirl and turn.
"Scanning commenced." Tom stares intently at the radar screen. He has no idea how big the object they are looking for is.
And then, there's a ping. "Captain!"
"Switch to highest resolution."
Sarah McRyan looks up, "It's 300 to 700 metres in size, fairly regular in shape."
"Okay, we are approaching visual range. Switch on the video.
"Great, it's too dark outside to see anything. Sarah, begin the laser scans."
