Upcoming : Vietnam - Battle of Dien Bien Phu
Ive Begun work on a Vietnam Scenario about the first indochina war between the Viet minh and the French. Im going to focus on the battle of Dien Bien Phu , The turning point in this war.
Im new to your forum so please excuse me if i ask some stupid questions.
Speaking of which here is one now. If anybody has any Vietnam/jungle related units, terrain or citys could they please post them as ive found these seem to be hard to find.
If i can get a few of my ruddy Unit.gifs to post i would, but it dosnt seem to be working, so bare with me, im new.

Looking good, Matthew. I think the Anzac did some Viet Cong who would be of use as Viet Minh. Check either his site or the modern gfx showcase.

They did have a few small (and i emphasise small) victories in the first indochina war. but their faith in static defences was once again their undoing (maginot line anyone?)

Be sure to credit him.
These icons were designed especially for a request of mine and were untill now unpublished.
Mmm.... on a second look, i guess you are looking for cities gfx, not improvements.
Oh well.....
I hope they come in handy.

...as did Spain and Portugual -are they also arogant and perturubed?
At the same time as the brief US raids, the French Foreign Legion had spent several years kicking several shades of, erm, stuffing from the Libyan troops in Chad.

As this stage -France and the Viet Minh and possibly a neutral side, as this is only a smallish map foccusing on a specific battle.
Any Suggestions welcome.

Dude are you going to include events such as that heroic sacrifice of the 28 legionaires against the 3.000 Viet Minhs?
They held them for two hours before they all got killed.
And how are you going to implement the French supply problem?

Thanks academia, Yeah i am considering doing another Vietnam War scenario , or possibly a Bosnian conflict scenario , although there is still a lot of work left on this one.
And in response to Palaiologos, yes i will try and make it as accurate as possible including events such as that, as if i recall corectly they will killed defending one of the out lying positions which i have included. ( also the French artillery comander killing himself because he could not fire back at the Viet Minh guns zeroed in on the french base).
In regards to the supply problem , i have two ideas in mind 1) Using the events text , reinforcements(paratroopers and artillery ammo) will be awarded in random turns and ocasionaly the Viet Minh will recieve them (representing how the supplys were often dropped off target due to the increasingly small perimeter of the french camp.
2) using a similar method to what Pablostuka used in his Spanish Civil war scenario (instead of researching technoligies , you request reinforcements)

Sounds like you have some great ideas. Tech tree reinforcements can be a very good way to get the type of units created where you want them, yet give the player lots of control. Are all the cities artillery units?
Your screenshot shows a nice selection of art. One possible suggestion for the terrain: take a look at Hardjoy's excellent jungle gfx. His mountains are superb - and not snow covered.

Thanks , No only the smallest Viet Minh citys are depicted them to represent the artillery batterys the Viet Minh dragged up into the mountains.
I hope to have some more screen shots soon , showing the main french camp, but a pressing Graphics and Design assignment has put a brief hold on work on the scenario ( hope to be back at it with in a few days)
And where would i find Hardjoys Graphics?

Hardjoy has another version of mountains. I forgot about the set in your post, Arthedain. Here's another. Although it's for an unpublished scenario, he's happy for people to use these terrain files.

Looks excellent; my only suggestion is that you get different graphics for the iron/gold resources, as they clash with the rest of the mountains.

Please do [post the terrain gfx]! - Some of the old Emin Pasha graphics looks a little dated compared to some of the more recent stuff, but if someone can use it, they're very welcome..

Not sure that it's dated, but it's definitely top notch.
