What does a "tufenk" blowpipe sound like?
No, I'm not making a joke.
I'm just trying to find some sounds for my scenario and there are a few I cannot seem to find anything suitable for.
If anyone would know I would really appreciate it if you could point me into the right direction.
I especially need to know what a "tufenk" blowpipe or just a plain blowpipe, a trebuchet and a crossbow sound like. However, any other medieval sounds would also help a lot.

OK. Maybe I'm asking something too detailed...
How about just telling me where all you guys get their new sounds from? Do you make them yourself or do you just copy them from other games?
Are their any good soundarchives on the net that might have what I am looking for?

You have given me a great idea Hendrick. I am going to start a resource links page on my web site.

That is a very good idea! I wonder why no one has ever done something like this before...
BTW, what is your homepage? There are so many out their and it's getting hard to remember all their owners.

Hendrik, I've been trying to generate a blowpipe sound using Goldwave software, but no luck so far. I'm trying to modify the Spysilencer sound from ToT. I'll let you know if I succeed. BTW, I know what a blowpipe sounds like (I think), but how does a tuefenk plowpipe differ?

Great! It would be very nice to have a "nice" scream at the end.
If you want you can send it to kaktusdh@worldonline.nl
Again, thanks a lot!

Well, a tufenk blowpipe differs in the fact that it does not shoot small arrows but small charges of Greek Fire (you know what Greek Fire is do you?) instead. It was up to about 1.6 to 2.0 meters long, had a piece of burning cloth at the end where the projectile would come out and had about a diameter of 4 to 6 cm at the mouthpiece and 3 to 5 cm at the other end.
It could be operated and armed by a single man. It was used by the Byzantines in the 13th and 14th century. Usualy by infantery but their are also some very rare cases in which it might even have been used by cavalary(but I doubt that). Range was about 20 to 35 meters I would guess, maybe more.
I prosume that it had some sort of flame or some kind of small explosion sound along with the rest. However, to be honest I have never heard one nor do I have texts or essays on how it did sound like.
It's very kind of you to let me know once you succed.
Perhaps I start playing around with some of the other sounds I have, too. I already managed to make a new sounds for infantery and charging kinghts/cavalary.

OK, I've got a semi-satisfactory blowpipe sound, I'll add some fire sound at the end. Do you want a nice scream too? How do I send it to you?
