Promisance help?

I know some of you are playing Promisance(.org), and it's probably one of your trade secrets, but how do nations rocket up so fast? I've been building up steadily since the beginning of this round (#2 to sign up). Yet some people just pass me without a glance...

Is there a typical building strategy that works very well? Or some tips that I need to know?
