How long does your Civ session last?
I cant play for less than 2 hours at any time. I usually wind up playing for much longer than that because I get so hooked into the game. For days at a time. Eventually, I have to wind up taking the disks and giving them to my brother to hold so that I will stop playing. One time I was so mad for playing Civ3 too much , I smashed the disk. Months later, I found a used version for sale really cheap and then I bought it. Currently, the disks are sitting in my desk at work. Just wanted to know if I'm the only one hooked this badly...

I was bad last night.

I can partially blame it on the computer clock, but most of it was me. I knew the clock was slow, but I thought it was ~20 minutes slow. Turns out it was an HOUR slow. I need to remember to fix that when I get home.

I think I fired up Civ around 8pm. I went to bed at 1am. 5 hours, then. I was sleepy at work today.

The People's Republic, however, is kicking all sorts of AI ass.

At the start of the game I like to put it at least a couple of hours to get my civ up and running. After that I can play as little as a half hour or so at a sitting, unless at war. I will play wars out until their end no matter how long that takes - because if I don’t, I sometimes lose track of what I was thinking the day before, and lose units stupidly.

But to answer the question at hand, usually, I put in about an hour and a half to three hours.

On days I play like today, I will play right after I get up and check the email/web. Stop either around midnight or when I go to bed. That is sometimes I stop for an hour before going to bed, others I play till 1am or so and then go to bed. I will take breaks to get a haircut or something. But then, I have all day to do anything I feel like.

Not right now, since the game crashes so often. Well actually the current test has managed to run last night and all today, so maybe it will be fix soon.

I toned it down last night. Only 2.5 hours.

India, Japan, Mongolia destroyed. Korea's on deck.

There was a time, when I easily could play 12 hours or more at once. It's down to at most 1-2 hours now.

In general, I play until dawn, when I do play. But sometimes, my sessions last as little as two hours.

Varies from a quick hour to anything up to 5 maybe 6 hour sessions. When I first play a new game though like RON the other week I can go right through the night without realising, but it saves you having to get up for work

It varies for me... during the week, or if I'm wrestling with a bastard like AU 208, only a couple of hours at a time.

This weekend, though, my fiancee will be away, it's a long weekend, andthe weather is supposed to be crappy.

I hope the weather isn't supposed to be too crappy for Monday! I'm going to the US Open on Monday!

Other than that, let it rain, and let us civ!

Two to three hours is about my limit, although if I am rocking and rolling I can easily lose track of time. Then there are days like today when I really want to play but I have house work to do and home work I should do. Oh well, that ancient philosophy can wait a couple of days! Although, the dishes probably can't...

I usually have my current SP game (like the GOTM or an AU game) running all the time at one of my work computers. That session runs at least 12 hours a day (and sometimes I forget it overnight too), and I play a turn or two every time I need a break (which can be every 10 minutes). (Yes, I know you want a job like that too...)

In addition, I play quick games (and PBEM) on another computer, but those sessions don't last more than half an hour.

Anything from 1 to 12 hours, 'normal' is 2-3. Sessions are fewer than I like them to be

Ah, sometimes I miss being single. 3-4 hours of civ every weekday, none at saturday and 15 at sunday(when hungover). Makes you sound like a big looser though

I voted 5 hours, although the average may be a little lower than that. I really should have voted "until I get hungry for a banana", because often the limitation of playing is not a time limit but some sort of real life interuption like dinner time with the loved ones, going to work, massive power outages that outlast my UPS, or falling asleep at the keyboard with my face pressing the space bar telling every unit to wait one turn. (I hate it when that happens!)

Sometimes, the game stays up on the computer when I am doing something like cooking dinner. Set the pre-heat timer on the oven, play a turn or two until the beep, put in whatever's on the menu, set the timer for half way, play a turn or three, turn the stuff in the oven over, start nuking some frozen veggies, set timers for both, play another round or five, miss the next timer beep and barely get the stuff out of the oven before it burns, set table and eat dinner, politely wait until everyone is finished, then back to the game. (I cooked; someone else gets to clean up.) If some larger project is going on, like cleaning house, then the game can sit there for hours waiting patiently for my next mistake (I mean "my next move".) to happen. When the game finishes, I sometimes get messages that say I have taken 60 hours to play and win one game. This is unfair. I know I only took 50 or so.

we are not talking about MP, right?

depends on the map size, but standard maps last at least 24 hours in total for me, and I usually play through a game in 4 days to a week

oh yeah, I once played civ for 3 days and got only 1 day's worth of sleep, I got really really sick a few days after.. , needless to say, I haven't done it again ever since
