Question about hotkeys.
Which hot keys do I press to make my workers build roads and nothing but roads? Is there a different one for railroads?

You can also hit Ctrl-N, IIRC, and your workers will only build your trade network, meaning roads connecting your cities and resources, with connections to other civs.
