I also only have 2.42. I vote that you replay it or pass on the original save. This game isn't going for any speed records, so I don't see a problem replaying.

Replay at your leisure DaveV - as Skrobism has said - we are not racing - to anything other than 'Apolyton Knitting Circle (Part III)' - would that be a record in this forum?

25 new cities! Through conquest or building fresh? Either way, way to add to the sleaze!

Mostly built, a few conquered.
Actually, I am not, by nature, an ICSer. I just figured we were so ICSed already that it was hopeless to turn the game into a moderate expansionist game.
DaveV, how many cities did you build? I wanna see if I outsleazed the master sleazer.

73 cities in 10 turns, actually . And I don't expect to come anywhere close to that in this game. On the first try, I captured 12 cities and built 3. I expect things to go differently this time around (no cheating, just a different strategy), but I don't plan on any city building binge (so relax, johnmcd!).

Its OK really, its interesting to see how the other half live. Normally if I capture an AI town with any overlap I'll sell the improvements and starve it to death.

It becomes clear why no ICS is preferable to ICS pretty quicly doesn't it? OCC is a bit heavy on the micro magic.

Game sent (finally!) to johnmcd. I only played 9 turns, but the time is now 1750 and everyone suddenly hates us, so it seemed like a good dividing line. We are a prosperous (if disreputable) fundamentalism. Highlights:
1660 Trade Railroad to Spanish for Leadership. Cardiff, Armagh captured.
1670 Mongols develop Polytheism, Babs acquire Polytheism from GL. Spanish undertake Darwin's, Americans undertake ET. We discover Industrialization. We build Darwin's (Tactics, Theology). Fundamentalism next. Mongols pay 800 for peace . Babs refuse tribute, Spanish share maps.
1680 Americans develop Magnetism, Babs acquire Magnetism from GL. Tintagel captured. Celts pay 150 for cease fire.
1690 Caerphilly subverted, Kells bribed. Spanish exchange maps. Mongols declare war.
1700 Rhymney captured, Caernarfon bribed. Spanish exchange maps. Mongols pay 350 for cease fire.
1710 Spanish exchange maps. Mongols declare war.
1720 We discover Fundamentalsm, revolt to Fundamentalism, complete Bach's Cathedral. Spanish exchange maps. We sneak attack Babs, capture Ellipi.
1730 Spanish develop Trade. Spanish exchange maps.
1740 Americans develop Medicine. Babylon captured, Babs destroyed. Spanish exchange maps. Coal Turin->Madrid, 122. Gems Issus->Madrid, 147. Americans exchange Medicine for Railroad, share maps.

OK, have played, it takes a while, eh?
Well, we lost Iona, you know, the little town, to Barbs, there was nothing to be done about it. I founded about three and started buying up Spain and shipping over lads to do what the diplos can't. We are now researching explosives...
Save sent to the Gits.

You would be most welcome MWHC - and can play between skrobism & ourselves if you wish - but this game is now rather laong in the tooth - you might get more fun by joining a younger Succession game - please advise ...

Zeevico - I don't think so - perhaps you would like to start one? Sinply post the intent and ground rules - something like :
"2.42, Deity, Raging, Random Medium Map, no more than 8 cities in Monarchy and 12 in Republic, Fundy and Commie dissallowed - any takers?"
and I'm sure you would get some players - I'd sign up for one ...

0-1760ad everybody is happy and we reign supreme. A new ruler takes the seat of power in the AKC. He looks to the past and takes his name from the ancient AKC Skrobism Dynasty. Skrobism The New and gives new life to a fundamentalist religion with a new marketing campaign "Skrobism - The Way of Life, brought to you by the AKC". From this point forward all new cities will be named Skrobism and then numbered. The abbreviated 'S' is allowed in witting the city names. ...and like a voice calling from the distant past, "Let the pigeons loose!" It begins.
1-1762ad An open space! S1 founded. Gold to Salamanca 75g. Beads to Madrid 224g. The American's are about to build Shake's.
2-1764ad S2, S3 founded. Carthage Builds Shake's!
3-1766ad S4, S5, S6, S7 founded. Beads to Genoa 6g.
4-1768ad S8, S9, S10a, S10b, S11 founded. Mongols plunder 'Room For 2' and get 21g, Industrialization Americans Steal polytheism from us.
5-1770ad S12, S13, S14, S15, S16, S17, S18 founded. Dye to Washington 104g.
6-1772ad Celts loot S4 for 21g & Industrialization. Leo's upgrades Settlers to Engineers; Musketeers to Riflemen; Dragoons to Cavalry. Our Scientists have delivered Explosives. Now if we could could just figured out the secrets of Amphibious Warfare, the world would be ours. S19, S20, S21, S22 (Bribed Mongol Settlers) founded.
7-1774ad Bribed Mongol cannon. Our dip started civil war in the Mongol city of Issus, now Issus-S23. S24, S25, S26, S27, S28, S29, S30, S31, S32, S33, founded.
8-1776ad S34, S35, S36, S37, S38, S39 founded; Gems to Cincinnati 34g; Beads to Cincinnati 32g; We had a cease fire with the Celts, but when I demanded tribute, we went back to war. Oh well I tried. Our Engineers defeated their Cav! Americans and the Spanish sign a pact to limit AKC aggression. We are still at peace with both civs.
9-1778ad S40, S41, S42, S43, S44, S45, S46, S47, S48 founded. We are still at peace with the Americans and the Spanish, but the seeds are planted for a full scale invasion err conversion. Spain launched an ironclad sneak attack against Rusucurru. Our rifleman defend the city. The treacherous ones then turn their attack to our nearby ironclad. It was ugly, but the AKC is victorious. I do not declare war, but I do step up the "missionary" movements into S40, and plan to land to the North East of Bilbao. The Americans do not attack.
10-1780ad S49, S50, S51, S52, S53, S54 founded. Our cavalry has left the Mongol city of Khorasan without troops to defend it. Mongol Capua is without defense. Once Mongolia is converted to "Skrobism - The Way of Life, brought to you by the AKC", we can begin to convert America and Spain. Our diplomat from New York took a trip to Washington and reports this: The capital is defended by 1-legion, 2-Warriors, and 1-Archer; all are fortified. It is the home of Cop's Obs, and the Great Wall. They are currently building a bank. The cities in the Americas Rush built Fanatics for purely defensive reasons. The Americans have nothing to fear - unless they reject The Way that is the AKC. In Spain S40, Nineveh, and the point North East of Bilbao will be fine launching points for the AKC missionaries to bring The Way to Spain. I originally planned to rush build troops throughout the AKC, and increase freedoms through Women's Suffrage. But I thought that might tie the hands of my successor. Women will get the freedom one day. The Americans are working on that, but I wouldn't build it until they are close - like I did with Shake's. Transports of "missionaries" are moving from our mainlands to America, Spain, and Mongolia; then back. I have built fortresses around Carthage and manned these with cannons. The surrounding cities are supporting this cause. The time is coming, soon when all of the world will try to reject "Skrobism - The Way of Life, brought to you by the AKC". Be ready.

skrobism, Post it to MWHC with a copy for us -
MWHC we will assume you are not playing if we do not hear from you before the end of the week Just post that you are on it - at this stage turns are taking forever and a day ...
That would fit in well with us, as it is unlikely that we could be able to do anything with this game before Friday evening at the earliest
