Neopoly: Bolaris Reborn Cracks Down on Immigrants
In a speech today, Lord Salvador Sondar of the Holy Empire of Bolaris Reborn anoucned that his government would henceforth take a stronger stance agaisnt outside immigration.
Proclaiming that "The purity of the Bolarian people must be preserved,", he signed into law a decree giving border security and coastguard personnel the authority to shoot illegal immigrants on sight if need, be, and sharply slashing the number of legal immigrants the Empire would accept.

And would the most learned Lord Sondar care for an Assimilation Corp membership?
Patagonians and Figgians are pretty good at shooting civillians in hot, or even cold blood, and it just so happens that we have quite a few of them to lend to you.

OOC: Um... didn't we agree that Assimilation Corp would have no involvement in Neopoly whatsoever? Given the power of just one Corp nation as compared to the entirety of the region, things would get very unbalanced, and the whole point of making a new region would be gone.

OOC: Oh? Sorry, I must have forgotten.

The Council of San Antonio is shocked by the stance the Bolarians have taken and is considering sending Councillor Queiroz himself to The Holy Empire to urge his Lordship to reconsider using such harsh methods.
As a city built on immigration and tourism, San Antonio would be happy to receive the migrants- as our UN description claims, San Antonio Bay "has opened its arms to an influx of refugees".
Perhaps we can come to some sort of arrangement, any migrants illegal or otherwise that are rejected by the Holy Empire be deported to San Antonio. Where, if they choose to, they will be able to stay. Such an arrangement could be mutially beneficial to both nations- cheap labour is becoming increasingly difficult for us to come by...

The Holy Empire would be prepared to consider such an arrangement, but only on condition that San Antonio pay for any additional expenses owing to the agreement. It's much more expensive to take immigrants off their boats and deport them elsewhere than just to ram the boat and let it sink.

We propose the following:
Another ferry service from Bolaris to San Antonio could be easily set up and relativley inexpensive for us as the companies running the ferry services buy cheap, old, rusty, leaky ferries from Estonia. If you allow us to establish a small (completely non-military) base of operations in a major port we will be happy to coordinate things from there.
Bolaris Reborn would still have to escort these ships to port (to make sure that they are directed to the correct facility); and also any people who do not wish to go to San Antonio would still be the responsibility of Bolaris Reborn.
- Councillor Carlos Quieroz (Departments of Commerce and Immigration)

That is acceptable to us, provided that our condition (all additional expenses must be paid for by San Antonio) is accepted. We do not anticipate many, if any, of those covered by the program preferring to stay rather than to go, given the punishment they would face under Holy Law.
