MSN - Domestic Policy, & Drone Cooperation
Voltaire says:
You had a question about the ****?
Kody says:
delay the **** for **** gives us a ****
Kody says:
we can build it in ****
Kody says:
I mean **** gives us a ****
Kody says:
building in **** is inefficient
Voltaire says:
Hmm, I would side with the delay, but it carries the risk someone may constuct it before us.
Kody says:
well honghu thinks the chances are lowish
Kody says:
because the university only got **** in ****
Voltaire says:
As do I, but I would like something more concrete to go on before making the decision.
Voltaire says:
What turn are we on right now?
Kody says:
2133
Kody says:
we finished that
Kody says:
next turn is 2134
Kody says:
****
Voltaire says:
Give me until **** to make the decision.
Voltaire says:
Though I favor the delay...
Kody says:
well I'm afriad I can't do that
Kody says:
because I start stripping our industry in ****
Kody says:
to build in ****
Voltaire says:
hmm
Voltaire says:
Delay
Kody says:
We can just barely build it in ****
Voltaire says:
The **** may not seem like much.
Voltaire says:
****
Kody says:
*nod*
Kody says:
****
Kody says:
****
Kody says:
and the **** is large enough that they will need more time
Voltaire says:
Exactly
Voltaire says:
Then again
Voltaire says:
If we work on the assumption that all the factions are operating like ourselves or the Drones than the danger becomes greater.
Kody says:
even then they don't have the industry bonus
Kody says:
and the stockpile energy is turning out to be a much greater boon for us that most people realise
Voltaire says:
Very true
Kody says:
we're basically gettting as much energy credits as a tech faction
Kody says:
while still keeping our industry bonus
Voltaire says:
And given that most factions are not operating as effeciently as we or the Drones are, the risks become reduced.
Kody says:
*nod*
Voltaire says:
Question
Kody says:
yes?
Voltaire says:
What are the chances that ourselves and the Drones will be able to minimize *******?
Kody says:
in late game it gets significantly smaller
Kody says:
not without us raiding
Kody says:
in early game it's pretty good
Kody says:
the main problem is tech rate
Voltaire says:
Which hopefuly will be solved... lol, though I will stop talking as though we already have troops marching through the streets of University Central.
Kody says:
yeah that's a good idea
Kody says:
although having a number of probe teams may help
Kody says:
it's a pity we can't get friendly with roze
Kody says:
and miraim betrays everyone
Voltaire says:
True, let us hope our dealings with Miriam will be minimal.
Voltaire says:
Her faction proves to be a nusiance at best in most games
Kody says:
getting friendly with roze would be really good
Kody says:
because roze has tech steal
Kody says:
should my message to buster be private
Kody says:
?
Kody says:
or just in the embassy
Voltaire says:
We should not trust in the AI, though I agree that it would be beneficial, our plans should be as such that they do not take Roze into account, if we can get something out of her, we'll consider it a bonus.
Voltaire says:
Hmm
Voltaire says:
I would say private.
Kody says:
okay then
Voltaire says:
We're dealing with more game specific information here...
Voltaire says:
This will all be much easier when we have infiltration on the other factions...
Kody says:
I know
Voltaire says:
Right now we're working in the dark.
Kody says:
how open do we want buster to be with the rest of his faction?
Kody says:
are we just worried about infiltrators
Kody says:
I assume that's the main reason we're keep fairly quiet
Voltaire says:
If he wishes to tell the others let him, its not a crucial point really.
Kody says:
okay then
Voltaire says:
And yes, I am slightly worried about infiltration by other factions, I would not put it past them to join our forums, or even obtain the password to our saves.
Voltaire says:
There's little we can really do if either is the case.
Kody says:
*nod*
Voltaire says:
But some precautions are best, such as the censoring of certain conversations on MSN
Kody says:
can we remove some of the inactive members from the embassy forum
Kody says:
the ones that never post
Kody says:
Basically just Alinestra and Haon
Voltaire says:
For the embassy forums, you will need to talk to Buster for that, I have no mod powers there.
Kody says:
I can ask buster
Kody says:
just asking you for permission to ask buster
Voltaire says:
Oh of course.
Voltaire says:
They can rejoin at a latter date if they become active
Voltaire says:
We may well also want to consider removing some inactive members from the Hive forums...
Kody says:
if only we could
Voltaire says:
Then again for the sake of prestige of being the largest faction we may want to keep them.
Kody says:
I'm not too sure about Haon
Kody says:
I mean you've been here longer than me
Voltaire says:
Well Haon has posted before, and he indicated to me he would be more active come fall since I think he had a job over the summer and when things settled down in september he could devote more time to the game
Kody says:
All okay
Voltaire says:
I'm more worried about those who have joined, posted once or twice, or never...
Voltaire says:
I know a few were invited by other members.
Voltaire says:
Octavian X said a few of the inactive members of the Hive are those who he had invited.
Kody says:
Vander is
Voltaire says:
others like Frankychan have just dissapeader off of the face of the earth
Kody says:
I think Vander and Octavian X are playing Civ3 together
Voltaire says:
he was active
Voltaire says:
now he's nowhere to be found
Voltaire says:
ah
Kody says:
*nod*
Kody says:
vander is still around just more engrossed in civ3
Kody says:
of our relatively inactive members, I think octvaian X and vander are definitely not spys.
Voltaire says:
I agree
Kody says:
a spy wouldn't use his alias to play another game
Voltaire says:
earlier in the game
Voltaire says:
back before you joined
Voltaire says:
i had the admins check out the IPs of all hive members to see if they corresponded to another IP used by someone else on apolyton
Voltaire says:
everyone checked up clean
Voltaire says:
granted
Voltaire says:
it has been a while since then
Voltaire says:
and more people have joined
Kody says:
okay
Voltaire says:
so perhaps it is the time for another security sweep
Kody says:
running 2 IPs isn't that hard
Voltaire says:
I know
Voltaire says:
it was just a precaution
Kody says:
*nod*
Voltaire says:
an idea just popped into my mind
Voltaire says:
this would be interesting for RP purposes
Voltaire says:
when we encounter the other factions we submit a sort of County Profile that you find in the CIA world factbook
Voltaire says:
it would provide an insight into how the other factions function
Voltaire says:
not a real one
Kody says:
oh okay
Voltaire says:
since obviously the hive doesn't function as the constitution dictates
Kody says:
heh
Voltaire says:
lol, granted i shouldn't expect it to function as the constitution says given that we have 30 posts and 26 members, or which 5 are active
Kody says:
hehehe
Voltaire says:
I'll end up appoining the inactive members to posts as well, just for show
Kody says:
*chuckle*

Yea. You hit it. I do play Civ3 more than AC (read: all civ3, no AC), but I visit the forums twice a day or more and try to put in my two pennies worth. I end up not posting because there are plenty of people out there that know alot more than I do about AC and I would rather soak in the info rather than feel stupid posting something that I shouldn't have.

Voltaire,
I've always been keeping eye on the online list.
Frankychan, has been perodically logging on (noticed him 3 times in the last couple of weeks). However, he doesn't appear to be posting at all. I only just remember this strange behaviour because we had this conversation recently and he logged on again just today.

Enjoyed the censoring.
Vander, better start to post more before they name you the spy and send you to Rm 103. Just joking. You've put in valuable opinions as far as I see. So please don't stop doing that. We have to at least pretend we are democratic don't we?

Oh as for the SPs, I think we may be safe to delay like 1 turn for ME. IIRC the talk with Comrade Kody, that means we get VW in 2137. That's about 7 or 8 turns for univ after they got IA. Assuming they have been building crawlers since then and assuming they have 6 basis of 2 pop (the newest one has 1), they would need four bases building two crawlers and two bases building one crawler to get 10 crawlers if they want to instbuild VW. Again assuming they would rush buy, with cost 27 for one crawler, the best they could do I believe is 1 crawler every 3 turns, and plus the transport time, that'll be at least 7 turns. So we should be safe there.
Although, it will be very painful if we are too careless and let the VW slip for one turn. One fact I recently discovered inadvertantly is that if you reload a game in the middle of your play, it is possible that you would get extra growth, extra energy, extra move and perhaps extra production. I was informed that we've had reloading warnings from the univ several times. So we may need to take this into considerations.

You cannot kill Kody no matter what evil deputy. The Chairman will have to kill you first.

I'll kill one of the non-posters then... or maybe Archaic, since it'll be HIS fault too.

If you reload a turn in the middle (essentially exiting the turn and scrapping all that you have done that turn, then loading that original turn) you start back at square 1. Nothing you did in the aborted turn can affect your reloaded turn. Subsequent players for that complete turn cycle will all get the reload message.
If you save a game in mid turn, then re-open it, all your moves to that point are saved. No additional benefit is granted on re-opening (although on re-opening the turn any combat results since you originally started the turn will now show). You cannot further move any units that had exhausted their movement points pre-save. There is no reload message given to other players, 'cos you haven't reloaded.
Note that this (save and re-open) is different from a reload, and what may have misled you is that on the re-open of the saved turn all the turn-start adjustments will be made - eg pop growth, facitlities completion, ec reserves, etc - that wouldn't have happened yet in the original scrap and reload turn until it was actually opened
G.

Not to worry the day will come when the mighty University falls before the heel of the Hive military, then the people shall rejoice and eat of xenodoughnuts.
