Seeking Artistic assistance for Trappings.
Anyone out there want to give a hand?
I was thinking that a hand-drawn (or similar. Perhaps a shrunk down black and white version of the world?) map of the basic layout of the game, landmasses, cities, etc, would be fun to have added in.
Get in the rivers, mountain ranges, and such, but not into the detail of exactly which tile held iron or furs for instance.
It would also give those outside of the game a chance to follow along better.
Anyone?
Anyone at all?

Aro is in the middle of some very trying personal problems at the moment. I don't want to ask him at this time.

Why don't you just take screenshots, paste them together, then use a filter effect in Photo Shop, Paint Shop, or something?

Uno - I know what you are looking for. Sort of like the map on the inside cover of the LOTR books. Basic geographic outlines and features - with key cities and lands shown.
As in ..Here lie Evil Warmongers. Here lie the Chicken and Donut Worshippers. Here lie Smelly Spaniards. Here lie Blockheads. Here lie the Quiet People. And here lie the Noble and Honourable (ahem) Voxians.
I would love to help out with the - ah - interpretations - but I am not sufficiently technically competent to do a map.

To avoid any flamefests, I should clarify.
1. I don't really believe that all civs 'lie'.
2. My Smelly Spaniard comment only applies to the in-game Spanish team, because of:
a) Ghengis' historical observation about the Church and bathing, and,
b) their passion for squid.
(the last thing I want is another rant from MZ... )

Such a map would be very cool, and help make the game more real for anyone on the outside looking in.
Unfortunately I too am restricted to MS Paint, and I've got almost no artistic talent to boot.

Tried playing with an old map (circa 500 bc) and guessed at the black spaces with autocad here at work. Needless to say - doesn't convert over to a BMP that well...... so I stopped with just a rough. perhaps it will be usefull, perhaps not.

The problem with taking screenies and cut-pasting is the units, build ques, and such... I don't want all that in, just the general map to give everyone a basic idea of what things look like...
Is there a way to extract just the MAP? no units or other info?
[edit]Actually, scratch that. I don't even want to. Would probably reveal Lego, which is still hidden to all but them. I'll look into that if and when Lego shares maps.
Hand drawn, guys, or if Zargon or other Lego member can do it (export), and fog Lego manually, that would work.

Unortho, are you thinking of something like the one I did (maybe on a smaller scale though)? I don't have a scanner so I have to do it on the computer.

Click Ctrl Shift M and it only shows terrain, no fog, no units, no roads, no cities, just the map.

actually, in the AutoCAD it was huge. In converting ti to a bmp is when all the normal details started to get lost and blurred. As I had just started realizing that it would be wasted.... so I just said forget it. Wasted effort.

No such thing as late with a work in progress. I'm still planning on binding this all up in a big 'book' at the end.

Shouldn't that be they're?
As they say; "Charity begins at home." In this case the charity would be a literacy program. Spain & Egypt would be happy to send some tutors garbed in military attire....

Oh him, he's been busy training new recruits; a far fetch from cowering let me assure you. In fact a few of his newer recruits have recently taken off on an adventure of their own in response to GoW's reference's to MrWhereItsAt's lack of bravery. I hope they fair decently. They took off against the will and good judgment of MrWhereItsAt........May God watch over them against the heathens known as Warmongers.

Yes....far cry from cowering you say?
THAT is why he sends his recruits instead of facing me himself? THAT is why he allows you to answer for him here?
I admire your loyalty to your fellow countryman, really. However, while your Christ may forgive MrWhereItsAt of his sins, I will not rest until vengance is dealt by my own hands. Both to MrWhereItsAt, and to those who seek to protect him.
Oh, and cute little expedition of new recruits there. It doesn't appear that MrWIA is doing a very good job of training, though.
