hmm... sounds someone I know...
btw, the Glory of War should get a Post Count Increment. We only post like 3-4 times a day (the entire team).
On the other hand those Roleplay guys!!! Just kidding. I think the roleplaying aspects of the demo games are fantastic despite it ain't my cup of tea. They could probably write up an entire novel from their forum stories.

Wow, Master Obiwan, Adams really couldn't beat the banana. (Can't anyone with a functional hand beat the banana?) Anyway, Adams probably would have been an entertaining minister.

Panag lost to the Banana in the Civ3 DG. And it was a total upset.

Geeze, he didn't just lose, he got crushed.
But it does make me wonder about the seriousness of some of those threads.

That's what I've been saying all along. Demo games are just a whole bunch of +1's all wrapped up and nicely packaged in their own forums.
But okay...let'em have their fun.

Yeah, well taking a peek ain't the same as actually playing in them. And considering over 90% of the people there are actually there to play and not to spam makes me thing some of you are a little biased in this regard

Well... it's my job to take "more than a peek" at them.
And while I will agree that they are legitimate games... and that many people are having fun and enjoying the games without spamming... there are TONS of +1's happening as well.

Yes, I've had the same impression.
But I must admit, the best way to handicap the non-AIs, is to have decisions by committee.

Isn't it just a reprise of the complaints about the diplomacy forum. I mean especially with stories. Why should they count and not OT. I think the change has been good for the OT. But that is now why they did it. They did it to drive traffic to the on topic.

Oh yes, I totally agree. I can only speak from my own experience. You probably are well aware that GoW's forum is probably the one with the lowest posting. The ISDG is pretty much a no-bullshit affair. The public forum of the PTWDG though, does get its share of spamming especially during major events.
buuuut... compared to this forum, they all pale in comparison

Most of the posters are ministers in the game.

Mods can't spam by definition.
The same doesn't hold for ministers.

In my mind, the lack of moderation in the Demo Games is the problem. As I understand it, the players themselves (the ministers at least) act as a kind of moderators, with Ming doing the occasional check-up.
That is as much as inviting a spam-fest.
But sure...I'm biased against demo games

I have an idea.
Is it possible for +1's to only be counted if a post contains more than say 100 characters? (not including spaces and smilies)
This would encourage people to use their imagination to post more than 100 characters while not actually saying anything meaningful and make it look like non-spam.

I think that would encourage a lot of waffle to ensure the 100 characters, even if the point was a brief one.
(only 86)
Um, Blah, Apolyton rules!

Then everybody would have to actually post meaningful stuff?
Oh boy...can that be done?
Asmodean
Edit: On second thought, we have something that can test for content. It's called a Ming
