In all honesty, we don't expect EVERY post to have deep thinking content. But there should be a balance.
Besides, if everyone was required to have content in every post, there are quite a few posters here that would NEVER be able to fullfill that requirement.

How much does intent count? Some spamming makes you think. Some things add to a sense of community. I think that some things that are considered spam may have a higher value than considered opinions, if they cause people to re- evaluate their positions. How do you attempt to judge these? I think that it is a very fair balance that is reached here, but, how do you approach it.

Would it be feasible to eliminate the titles ("king", "emperor", etc) and just list a pc by the user's name? I think a considerable amount of spamming would be ended with the present impetus to achieve a new title.
God knows it is possible that I may have (inadvertently) spammed (without my direct knowledge) to be a warlord (if, indeed, I ever did, which I probably didn't, and can't recall ever having done so).

The title system obviously encourages spamming, but even more so is a 500 limit until custom avatars IMO.

Why do people consider avatars important? I no longer look at them. Am I the only one who is not impressed?

Part of it is the individualization of self (and no I'm not a shrink ). The other part is that after seeing someone's personal avatar for a while you can tell who that person is at a glance, without having to look at the name

Probably not the only one, but definately one of the minority. Avatars allow you to put a bit more of your personality across to the forum, to reflect your interests/passions. They also help greatly with poster-recognition.

You have a passion for skewering people with swords? Eek, I'd better make sure I agree with you then.

More of a hobby, really.
I actually own one of these, by the way.
And two swords. And chainmail armour.

Yeah..you can buy stuff like this. There is even a company that specializes in making custom medieval weaponry.
It costs a fortune, though.

I already proposed this earlier in this thread. It didn't seem to be what people wanted, though.

I've considered getting a samurai sword. Is there a certain fighting technique for it? Where can I learn it?

I thought the reason posts count in the community forum but not in the OT was that the community forum was actually supposed to deal with issues which will make apolyton a better place. Thus they want to reward contributions here.

The same doesn't hold for ministers.
|
Just the fact that most of the DG ministers have responsibilities to fulfill means that they will spam less than in the community where none of the posters have a responsibility.
Poor BC.

In my experience being accurate is not necessary to dupe most people. For prrof, just watch most news channels.

Hehe, don't be cruel, it was an easy mistake to make. What made me look harder was the unlikely prospect of BC being moderated.
