Yes, if this indeed an Island MM will be our savior since it will allow us to build the GLH. Bezerker's attacking from Galley's is a wonderful sight!

hi ,
for the moment we should focus on building our cities , ......
getting a couple temples might be intresting for the cultural expanse , barracks everywhere and two or three graneries to produce settlers , .....
ones we have build our cities a bit ( if we are on an island defense is easy ) we sail with massive fleets

Strong, powerful, well built cities at home are very important to the construction and support our world-conquering fleets and armies.

Another reason we should go for Great Lighthouse is the speed bonus. Our galleys will be able to go further out to sea and move faster than any other race's.
This is good for both our Militaristic and Expansionist designs:
* We will explore the seas 25% faster than anyone else (good map selling opportunity).
* Populate those remote spice islands long before the AI even knows they exist. I believe as Expansionist's we can colonize remote territory with less corruption.
* Trade across sea tiles centuries before anyone else can.
* Our 'Longships' will be able to overtake and sink any Galleys that threaten us or outrun any when carrying Bezerkers and settlers.
* We will Rule the seas for maybe a 1000 years
* We may enter a Golden Age
One problem though, If we dont get it  if the Evil AI beats us to it, well we're a bit stuffed. So lets hope there is a spare 'last resort' wonder we can swap it too in that eventuality.

AI has significant bonus for building - 40% less shields needed. I suggest not losing time for the GL but rather building massively troops.

hi ,
indeed , we should try to get a couple GL's really fast for that wonder building , at a later stage this era we might be able to put a place holder in a city , but at this level it remains doubtfull for now , ........

Updates on research :
Got Ceremonial Burial from Spain, still at 20% ~30 turns left on Bronze Working. Unless there is a connection to another landmass in the south-southwest, we're probably on an isle. Currently even al out treasury & gpt couldn't entice Isabel to showing us those funny squiggles

So we are currently researching Bronze Working.... That will keep us busy for a while but we do need those Spearmen.
What should we go for after BW?
I still say we aim for Map Making as we really do seem to be stuck on an island. Besides there seems little point building a bigger army until we have the means to reach the enemy. No one else will have the means to invade us for some time yet.
If Isabella wont trade Alphabet then we'll have to research it (and make a mental note to punish her for it later  )

I'm a bit worried of our research path currently.
We are aiming BW which the Spanish already have. Why?
The Spanish have also alphabet. A key tech for MM.
We should consentrate on something the Spanish dont have and then exchange it for the both.
I don't currently have knowledge on our position on the tech market but I belive there is a tech that the Spanish dont want to research yet. This should be our chance.

Well we started the game with BW - little did we know she had the same idea  Yes the more this looks like an isle, the more I want MM - but! we need to get Alphabet too, and she wasn't in a generous mood
