L'Impérialisme Européen
L'Impérialisme Européen
Hello all. I have thought of a perfect scenario on a topic I know much about. L'Impérialisme Européen, or European Imperialism, is a scenario about European powers racing to colonize the Americas and Africa. The reason I do not want the world is because of Asia (many other civs).
Does everyone think it would be a nice idea...
I was thinking some new art by myself. I have already begun planning for the types of units to draw.
The scenario will begin in 1492 - ?
I was thinking 1492 - 1792, possibly.
If this does not sound great and exciting to you guys (for I have seen not much makes you excited except Red Front ) then back to the drawing board.
If you have heard of Europa Universalis, you'd know what I am talking about, and know what inspired the project. No art will be taken from the game though.
This will be Scenario I of the pre-modern age scenario series, featuring the Industrial Revolution scenario, the African expansionism scenario, and the Asian Conflict of European colonies and Asian nations.
Suggestions and thoughts are welcome.
Thanks,
George

No! Go into the 19th century! It would be cool to build up your empire and then have to upgrade your miltary with all the new advances!
Oh, and go with multiple files...

Ok, the scenario will stop at 1900.
Now, don't expect it soon, for this will take me a long time. Not as many events, seeing that YOU will be the one to build the empire, but will still contain various events files.
I am mainly doing art now, and will soon focus on the map and what not.

I think the main problem with scenarios about colonization is that the AI doesn't expand as fast as a human player and sometimes don't go at all to the new continent (ex: the discover scenario in CiC).
I think that there are two solutions : make a multiplayer scenario (ex: Alba) but the problem is that there won't be many people able to play because I think there will be 4 or 5 European Civs in your scenario. The other solution is to make only one civilization playable (ex: Red Front) and help other European Civs to expand through Events files. (There could be a third solution : make different Events files different for each civ you can play (ex: 2nd Reich) but it would make your job very very long !). Personnally I think the second solution is the best one and you can make a great scenario if you use multi files.

Mao: Who said no events? Not as many, but that still means 5 or 6 files for each civ.
Pano: Taking the third choice by making events for every civ...the Natives are not playable, they are antagonists in the scenario.

Well, Mao, if I did ALL the events happening in Asia at the time, then I'd have a meg worth of events.
BTW, I was wondering...
I am thinking if this scenario should be in Test of Time. I am at "no" right now, but talking with Fast Eddie made me think that I could do much more, even include movies.
I am curious to know how you all would like this idea.
Mao, just get ToT!

Definetly do ToT for a colonization scenario. There are a million already out for fw, but with ToT you can use the extra maps. To me, the extra map capability just screams out "colonization" as if it was put in the game just for those scenarios.

You do...
Haha.
Eddie came up with some good ideas for the scenario, large credits in the readme, of course.

ALL: I could use some more suggestions before I begin. All I have done is plan for unit art.
