Tosi tarina:
Mulla oli työkoneellani mIRC. (Olin joskus #suomi kanavallakin)
No unohdin koneen ja mIRC:n päälle yhdeksi viiikonlopuksi. Maanantaina tullessani töihin virus skannerini varoitti troijalaisesta takaportista koneellani. Ohjeiden mukaan irrotin koneen verkosta jasiivosin viruksen pois ja uudelleen skannasin koneeni. Kun mitään eilöytynyt laitoin koneenilopulta takaisin verkkoon.

takaportin kautta oli koneelleni asennettu toinenkin ohejlma, jota virusskannerit eivät löytäneet, joka teki koneestani massaspämmittäjän.
Luojan kiitos tarkoille palomuureille meidän rajalla, jotka sallivat postaukset vain tietyistä paikoista (ei työkoneeltani) ettei koneeni tullut mailmalle suuremmin massaspämmerin maineeseen. (Mutta kone kerkisi olla vuorokauden kiinni verkossa virussiivoukseni jälkeen ennenkuin sain ATK-keskukseltamme tiedon tilanteestani.)
Ainut mikä enää tässä tilanteessa auttoi oli koneeni formatointi.
(Ja arvatkaa olisiko minulla ollut parempaa tekemistä niille kahdelle työpäivälle?)
Joten IRC:n käyttö on jatkossa osaltani kyllä rauhallisempaa.
Ja tämä on sitten tosi tarina...

Jeje2: Ei ongelma ole irkki itse vaan mIRC  . Käyttäkää nyt ihmiset järkeänne ja valitkaa sellainen clientti jolla ei ole historiallista mainetta hajota turvallisuusasioissa. Siis mIRC ja *****X ainakin ovat ulkopuolella. Tutkipa huviksesi sivua http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/rfc . Ei ole monimutkainen protokolla, eikä pitäisi olla mahdotonta toteuttaa turvallisella tavalla. Ei sillä että minäkään luottaisin täydellisesti vaikkapa irssiin mutta ei se tähän asti ole vihoitellut. Sitäpaitsi irssiä on mukava käyttää .

Niinpä, tuo mIRC oli aika huono esimerkki, sitä ei todellakaan tueta. Ja jos tuetaan niin saa ne portit suljettua... Tästä hyvänä esimerkkinä tämä juuri riehunut virus jonka mIRC vastaanotti ja aiheutti koko paskan kaatumisen, mutta mä vaan hymyilin yrityksille. Ai niin, tuonkin ois saanu estettyä.

Tyhmästä päästä saa koko kroppa kärsiä - olen aikanani oppinut.
Nyt opin mIRC:n epäluotettavuuden ja samalla meni luottamus paikallisiin IRC clientteihin.
Nyt käytän työpainakan UNIX koneiden perus teksti IRC:ä. Unix:iin otan yhteyden SSH:n avulla.
Tuon heikkous on vaan se että on hankalla olla useammalla kanavalla samaan aikaan -> joten olen vain yhdellä känänvalla enää.
