Hmm, has anyone heard of Ragnarok Online!!!
I've seen a game been market in Malaysia called Ragnarok,
I understand it is a MMOPRG game with is very popular in Korea,
Japan and Taiwan. It is currently in it's beta test stage.
I've seen it, its like Final Fantasy meets Everquest.
Lotsa anime, cute monsters and 3D landscape.
Check it out at the website ro.gameflier.com.my

a bit vague; every game is popular in japan, korea and taiwan, also there are tons of mmorpgs with a final fantasy meets everquest kinda theme in 3D
i wonder how many of those mmorpgs actually survive... there's noway near enough people to play all those games

I wonder how popular it really is, since the post reads like an advertisement and sansvon has only one post (this one).

It is substantially popular in the countries he listed. Enough so to do well, atleast. By "Final Fantasy meets Everquest" He means the graphics and combat - they are like something you would get in a console style RPG, like Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger.

So I could expect combat a la FFI pane view or would it be more like the FFVII 3d line attack?
Either way, that'd be kind of cool.

I'm not really sure, but I'd expect it's something along the lines of Secret of mana or Chrone Trigger - that's what the graphics and game style resembles the most.

Speaking of Secret of Mana, I saw screenshots for the next FF for the game cube and they were compared to Secret of Mana. It looks almost like the Summoner for the PS2 but not as dark.

I can confirm that it's pretty popular. Probably what I'd play if I had time to play an MMORPG. Just go to www.gamefaqs.com and look at the stuff written about it.
