Well I haven't got a clue what Mr. Nice Guy means with social, but I'm rather left-wing economically and centrist ethically.

What a refreshing new thread.
I consider myself a communist. Socially, I think people should do whatever they want to, as long as they don't harm anyone else. I frown upon religions. I frown upon people who do things that try to destroy all those values.

Progressive Liberal for life.
I've always felt the best days of our country were with forward-thinking liberals in positions of leadership.

New Democrat/Social Democrat (of the "right wing" SDUSA variety) - too concerned about distributive justice for the former, too much of a free trader for the latter. (Blairite might work - but Im not sure it applies this side of the pond - unfortunately here the best and brightest 3rd way types are very reticent about social justice, and folks more willing to address it are usually protectionist)
Foreign Policy - neo-Wilsonian with neo-conservative leanings. (or maybe a neo-conservative with neo-Wilsonian leanings?)(again more Blair then anything I can pin down on this side of the pond - see the more liberal posters at Oxblog for examples - see also the editorial page of the Washington Post)
Culture - moderate - a modernist and pro-feminist, but with communitarian/traditionalist sympathies

I find it amazing that "liberal" is the vocabulary describing the main enemy in the eyes of both European leftists and American conservatives.

I wrote above that I'm a moderate conservative in the European sense of the words. This is just a reflection on how people view things:
Libertian = neo-liberal in the vocabulary of European leftists.

Moderate, mid-way between the lefties and the righties, sometimes closer to one of them in certain subjects, but just as likely to oppose them on others.
Thus they both hate me.
I'm generally tolerant of those on both sides of the fence despite the fact that they tend to hate my opinions and therefore I usually get into long arguments with them, when I have the time and will.
Interestingly, my egoistical, arrogant, agressive, anarchist, atheist, spoiled, devil-may-care, highschool dropout of a brother usually gets along with me better than either of my old folks do...despite the fact that I intellectually loathe his anarchism-egoism-indifference more than any other political position I've seen yet on Apolyton.
Weird.

Besides, Azazel, how can you be advocating equal rights for all if the world is ruled by technical experts?? See, once you actually look at what all that jargon (my word of the minute) means, it makes no sense...but hey, what do i know

I could explain it to you if you like. If I thought people would get what I meant I'd have used just "radical democrat" but I'm sure they'd all think I was just a generally left-wing american, which is not what I mean.

So could I. Egalitarian is to strive for equality, and Technocrat is to be ruled by scientists and technological experts. I don't really see how those can't co-exist.
