I'm surprised that the Metro is closing so early. If the Metro is closed, they'll almost certainly close the office.
TCO: If you're drunk, you can always take the train down. If you bring a six pack, the festivities don't even need to end.

Scratch that. Amtrak is closed tomorrow south of Washington. The city is going to be like a scene from The Stand.

If you are sober, then drive. (If not, please dont) You have time to make it. You can pick up provisions at a local 7-11 on the way. That's what my parents did on the way home from Cape May NJ last night. Stores out of the path will have more stuff anyway. You can charge up your laptop as soon as you get home.

No -- the descriptive location is still written under the hurricane's name, so it can't be cloaked.

I'm home. There is no real weather in Richmond yet. little bit of wind and sprinkle. And people walking around at night. I didn't get any provisions, but I will fill some jugs with tap water. That should get me by. Hoping that this whole deal is totally overrated. I don't even want to lose power...

Glad to hear it. Still you need to be seduced into more applied stuff. Even if you are doing math/modeling in it. solid state is cool. As is classical E/M.

Is it absolutely necessary to have TV reporters stand right in the most vicious part of the hurricane as they transmit their live TV report? If that was my job, I would file a grievance with the union!

EVERY Hurricane, someone stays that close..HOWEVER...they usually get inside once conditions deteriorate to the point of severe, which it is getting close..I am in jacksonville and we have been having 35-45 mph with a few higher gusts, wind driven rain...we are on the west side...the.."safer" side of the hurricane...becuase the northeast quadrant is allway the "most" dangerous with the counter-clockwise rotations of a hurricane...
I just kinda "listen out from inside my sturdy home we own..
Peace

They usually "fly around" as opposed to flying over....
Just remember this..Hurricane Hunter in doing reconaissance flight actually fly into the eye..now you talk about a job being "all-it-can-be"..NOW THATS ENTERTAINMENT!!!!

UMD has been closed, but I think it is more a response to things like the Metro closing
I should use this to catch up on my HW

Sounds like the typhoon that hit here during my first week. Pretty anti-climactic.

Agreed. Metro sure looks silly for closing early, which is what was driving everything else. A light breeze here, spitting rain. I was outside with the kids kicking a soccer ball.

Pretty decent (I hope). If I didn't pass EM then I lose my job and have to TA little freshman shits. Still waiting on results for both tests.
My conference section is EM 301 (i.e. vector cal for a few weeks followed by electrostatics followed by magnetostatics etc.) Griffiths 1-6 (7?)
I got the sol'n manual to Griffiths, which is sweet (along with a desk copy). Whcih is good, because I'd never bought it and it's a handy reference when you don't feel like wading through Jackson.

I used Wangness in Undergrad
so you are actually teaching a class?
that is cool, all our physics TAs here do is teach discussion or lab (occasionally profs let you have a little more freedom like assigning HW, but not often)
it would seem like it would be a little late to switch things up for a test (at least this semester)
I passed my classical and was a percentage point or two away from passing the quantum so they are kind enough to give me an Oral in the near future (I am kinda worried about it though, sometimes I freeze up in front of people) (if I pass te Oral I count as passing the test)

I'm guessing "Wangness" is some guy's last name, but don't tell me if it is. Allow me to savor the thought of someone using their mystical wangness to get through their undergrad work.
