Hurricane Isabel: How you holding up?
We're getting gusts of about 30 here in Southeast PA. Power's been flickering, but no rain yet. Not gonna stop me from going to a rugby party.
What's going on in your neck of the woods?

It's raining kinda hard, blowing kinda hard, but all in all this hurricane has been rather anti-climactic. I'm hoping the ancient tree in my backyard will crash through the house tonight and kill me. That'd be exciting.

its a beautiful, calm night...
but I'm in Chicago.
It's been funny watching all the stupid sensationalist reporters on the cable news networks getting soaked with rain and tossed around with wind. One guy had the battery go low on his Sony Mini-Cam and all you saw was this big "LOW BATTERY" message while he was talking. The woman anchor was like, "uhh Carlos, all we can see is your low battery message. Get some batteries and check back in."

We had classes canceled today and tomorrow. Which means it was a great excuse to drink.
And I did

Rather overcast here now, and the wind has picked up a bit. Don't expect anything serious till tomorrow morning, but they aren't predicting anything worse than winds in the 25-50mph range and thunderstorms.

You're all pussies. 30 winds We had 95mph winds in Wales last autumn and no one called it a hurricane, boarded up, or worried about power.
Oh how the tides have turned, you Yanks just can't handle the weather.

I heard on the radio that Bayonne's lost power, but from where I'm sitting (southern tip), the power's fine.

Thats because it wasn't a hurricane. Only 1 fully formed hurricane has ever reached mainland UK and that was 300 years ago..

Bods, that's because it wasn't a hurricane, there's nothing worth boarding up, and when did they switch from peat and whale oil?

95mph winds are 95mph winds whether they arise from a hurricane or not. Stop trying to excuse these wimps. They just can't handle a spell of different weather.

He's Nebraska's quarterback and easily the most worthless player we've had since the dark days of Mickey Joseph. Bayonne is just reaping the wrath of God for producing the player that is holding back the Lord's team (in addition to defaming his name).
