Hey, maybe you could find a patch, too, so that it would work on my machine?
Seriously, though, I wonder what it doesn't like about my nice lil' WinXP box.

...and yeah, the Holy handgranate is great is prevously Worms games, but it seems a bit week in W3D

I've heard they will be releasing a new demo next week, which should contain the possibility to play against the AI...
This one should also be playable on most computers... or so they say...

I was starting to think I should buy a new computer.
I'll be sure to check out this new demo you speak of when it comes out, though. Thanks for the heads up.

Bah, it's something about my comp. Something about an nVidia card, crappy nVidia drivers, and mb combination... This isn't the first game that ain't working, it isn't the last. I tried to run the Silent Hill 3 demo a couple days ago, and it said it couldn't run, because it needs a vid card with at least 16 MB of memory. Mine has 128 MB. Just another hint that something is fooed. Oh well.

Just to be sure, have you got the latest drivers from nVidia and your video card??? Sometimes it's a good idea to set all your advanced graphics settings to default under the nVidia tab of your display settings...

The new demo is avaliable on www.gamershell.com
I haven't downloaded it yet, just started a few minutes ago, but I doubt I'll try it tonight, when it's down it's time to get some sleep anyway

This new demo offers two completely new maps, 12 weapons, and lets you play against the computer or against another opponent - it also fixes the 'Athlon problem' encountered in the previous demo.
|
Well, it doesn't fix the nVidia problem.
Tried it out, got the nice big "SEGA" screen, after which the same old NULL pointer error appeared.
mantismm,
lol Yeah, I've checked for the latest drivers a few times in this past week already. Oh well... *sigh*

I just played the new demo, and it's awsome compared to the other demo's
This one doesn't need editing to get 30 minutes to play the game, and in the SP map the water goes up from the beginning, and it's a map of Titanic... during the sinking. The AI is pretty stupid though, but still I haven't been able to win, because the AI starts with double number of worms, and your own worms starts in very bad positions... But great nevertheless
The MP is still only playable on one computer, but features a map of some war place harbor, complete with fake machineguns and such...
... 3 more days...

I've played the full game for the last 24 hours... finally the AI knows how to use the special weapons like Super Sheep
Though there's almost no pre-made MP maps... I've finished 13% of the PS missions, but still I've only got 5 MP maps... I had 4 maps from the beginning
...and those SP missions are pretty boring...
Strange to have to finish the SP missions to play MP

The random map generator works a little strange (Will post pictures later... if I remember). Sometimes the ground is placed high in the air (This has happened 100% of the times in the arctic map, and 50% of the time in the Alien map)... I'm talking about really high here. You count the falling towards water in seconds, not milliseconds
But in the other themes I haven't seen such problems... at least not that much... sometimes there's 1-2 islands hovering above water.
There's only a few themes to play: English Garden, War, Pirates, Horror, Alien
The Alien looks like something from the '70s

Here's some screenies of the auto-made maps:
The Alien Theme:
The Arctic Theme:
The England Theme:
The Horror Theme:
The Pirate Theme:
The War Theme:
...and the last round I played before posting this msg:
...the smallest island ever seen... All was killed by my Uzi

That last one is tiny! I'd use my baseball bat if I was playing that one. Do the worms still skip on water if you send them flying with a baseball bat at a correct angle?

I haven't seen that yet... For some reason I can't get my baseball bat to send other worms flying... the AI can, but I can't
Among the things that annoys me when playing is the AI's stupidity:
1) The AI doesn't pick up crates, unless by accident walk into one
2) The AI almost always attack me, even though they have to walk pass other enemies to get to my worm
3) The AI throws a gas-granade (Which causes the worms to get sick) against sick worms...
AND you can see what the enemy picks up. If the enemy gets a spy crate, you can see what he see's
But the most annoying thing: You don't have a free look. When the enemy is playing, you only see the selected worm from the side, having no idea where he shoots, unless you use the air view...

I really wonder why some of the random maps only has hovering islands... I just played a War map, where all the islands where very high up in the air...
I wish it was possible to have one large island instead of tons of small ones...
