So spam or well-balanced, informed discussion, can someone please answer my newbie question?
Or at least provide a link to the relevant thread this was spammed up/discussed in before.

I could, but I would have to kill you afterwards
But seriously, the thread I linked above, has a pretty good explanation by HongHu: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...05#post2343705

Ta all.
The only thing about my movement is that I joined ages ago when I was a regular at CFC, just to protect my "brand" in the Civ 2 community and posted a couple of times but then left for absolutely ages. So I'll never get a decent movement statistic unless I spam like a (_____) [insert username of your choice]. Not a thing I'm going to worry about though.

Not really. I don't post in the OT and yet I support it since It might increase the frequency of my posting in the OT, since posting there would actually mean something in that case

DemiGod is below deity...
a deity is a god- a demigod is only a partial god
Conversely, you could also have
Aeons... as in the Gnostic idea of aeons separating as parts of the Creator god (can't remember his title)
6000- Aeon
10,000- DemiGod
30,000- God
50,000- Sid

Well, I'm technically a majority OT poster, though I post ontopic as well.
I'd easily be an Emperor if the OT posts counted, but I think that we get better discussions when posts don't count and the motivations for spamming disappear.

I beg to differ. I haven't noticed any increase in the quality of OT posts... the only thing that axing post counts seems to have accomplished is to get rid of 'spam-threads' such as the coffee shop and word association... the in-thread spam of debate threads seems to be at just about the same levels as ever before.

I beg to differ DC... it has also gotten rid of much of the in thread spam of debated threads. Yeah... there will always be some... but it is far less than it used it to be.
And unlike you... I have to read all of it... so I know

There isn't a whole lot of in-thread spam in the OT. some, to a point but people are warned when it gets out of hand.
The mod posting above me does a fine job, he caught me spamming when I didn't really realize I was.
Spam threads are given a short life span usually no more than a page.
I persoanlly look for the locked thread everytime I sign on just to read the spam.
A lot of it is quite funny.
ACK!

Which is the major shame with the war on spam.
Spam is entertaining, even if you aren't participating. Generally.

No, Ming's postcount is that of the person closest to his plus the average postcount of all members to the power of 1/n, where n is a number generated by Civ 3's random number generator. So it could be er, anything.
Making a slight error in typing made me wonder how many times the many threads like this have post**** instead of postcount.

To the best of my knowledge, I am the highest ranking member of the English royal family to visit Apolyton so the Cnut postcnut will be zero.

Er, no. Duke of York is the title given to the second son of the ruling monarch in the same way that the heir has the title Prince of Wales. So when the Queen snuffs it then Prince William will become Prince of Wales and Prince Harry would become Duke of York.
Mind you, I'm named after the famous general with the unique military strategy celebrated in the childrens song.
