Name the game - part 2
I start out, by writing a little about a game, the first one who guess's the game, may post some new game info, for others to guess...
Game rules:
- Games are not allowed to be newer than Amiga games, but anything before that is allowed (No matter on which computer it was played on)
- you shall write information about which computer you played it on
- Don't write part of the name in the game info, unless there's no way to avoid it
- Write as little as possible, if nobody can guess, write some more later
- Try to keep games, to be from computers, most people have had...
- If you're the first one to guess a game, and you're certain you're right, feel free to post your game info (In case you know you'll be leaving soon)... but other players are not allowed to start guessing, before the poster of the first question has approved the answer, or most other players approve the answer
Waiting for the first one to post some game info

Dr.Spike yeh that could be a fun thing to have - the winner after each 500 post total could get a mention and a (smilie)prize at the opening of the new thread
Who's going to count?
Ok i was about a 16th of my way through some clues.
What we have so far are:
1. released circa late 80's on non-consoles, various 8bit/16bit and PC
2. naff emergancy clue about being abducted by aliens and needing to get home.
3. A different kind of clue - a musical .wav file that you will need to run through MediaPlayer to get it to work. (i'll add it again at the bottom)
4. The mentioned tune you may hear in a pub in the game.
That was more or less where it was at
new one
5. You start with nothing but your guile?
[I just love that music - i'v only just discovered it after like 15+years!]

Though I wont have time enough to do the counting before weekend, so if someone else feels the urge to do it...

Nope not Buck Rogers
And music like that is STILL the coolest ever .....just love those chip sounds. On that particular file i cant tell if the end part of the song is just degredation of the source(sort of like an old scratchy record) or just the 'orchestra' warming down!
Hmmm.....i wont post much more info just yet, and i finish work in 30mins.
Maybe just one more clue - at the time the word 'revolutionary' was used to describe many aspects of the game.
Maybe you could all just sleep on it - maybe play the music while you sleep I'm sure those clues must jolt a memmory somewhere

Suppose you are inside the Matrix.

@ Dale,
You will need Mediaplayer set as you main .wav player, winamp doesn't like it apparantly
And no, its not Hitch Hickers.
@ Main_Brain,
Another word you could use for 'guile' could be 'cunning', or 'wits', or a less perfect word would be 'intelligence'.
And no, it's not Zak Mackraken(sp?).
@ ljcvetko, that is a good point - maybe we'll never know?
Ok another clue:
is the attached graphic from the unreleased Amiga version It did come out on the Atari ST though.

and i thought you were just being off-topic - too cryptic for me
And yes we have a winner! It was Alternate Reality, here's a good website about it - it also has more music files to listen too (and they might just work in winamp as i won't have tainted them with my mediaplayer!).
AR link
your go ljcvetko

Ah this cost me another post so I’m warlord now. I wanted to avoid that. I’m not a spammer.
OK
Here’s another one of my favourites.
C64 game from 1986.
There are four of you.
Your group is supposed to free all scientists; you must evade the robot guards, electric fences, booby traps, etc.
To make things a little bit more complicated, the clock is ticking.
I believe this is enough to guess.

But there were 'four'? unless it means four lives....i cant remember how many lives you had in Mission Impossible?
I was thinking along the lines of one of those early 'spec ops' type games....so i'll guess for 'Special Forces' by microprose.(but i think its wrong!)
Ha it just could be a fair few games! More clues please

You are wrong guys. I thought this would be an easy score.
Doc, where are you? This game had Spectrum release too.
Are my hints not enough?
Well, let's make it clearer.
In the beginning, you are selecting your team of four crack commandos (out of eight if I remember correctly). You pick your crew comparing their physical and mental capabilities (although I never saw any difference regardless of whom I picked). One of them was called Kowalski.
Your mission is to save the world. The clock that is ticking is actually a bomb of immense power capable of destroying the world. In the beginning you shoot all the alarms first. You have to walk on the thin line to avoid all obstacles. Sometimes, one of your commandos has to jump on the shoulders of another one to pass through and open the way for the others.
Each scientist knows one digit of a code which you need to enter the room in which the powerful bomb is located. The bomb is in the fourth level below ground.
The game was exceptionally difficult and I must admit I haven’t been able to finish it.
If this is still not enough, I’ll post a screenshot later.

Not Microprose.
Piranha.
Here's a screenshot at the beginning of the game (timer 997 out of 999). The guy with the helmet is Kowalski.

Spectrum graphics! (IMHO although it did have a high resolution its colour schemes mostly sucked - American 8bits had overall better graphics i felt?)
i dont know now although i'm sure Dr.Spike will have a good guess. And i'll know it as soon as he gets it and kick myself

If nobody of you played this game some of you might remember the ad.
Also, the game has a three word title.
The words begin with S F C.

I was the one to get the honour of giving the game to guess after "The Day of the Tentacle", but it was Frustrated Poet that made it. He did give me the opportunity to win, nevertheless. I don't know if you want to count him or me as the winner in the overview? On one side, he was the one with the right answer, on the other side, I took over after him. What a mess...
