Alright, alright...here's another to bite into. Another one from 16-bit era, late 80's. It also made it to some consoles.
This one's gonna make you squeal
It requires you to have balls that are made out of steel...
And I'll have to say this game is tough
So better get ready it's gonna be rough...

No, not marble madness...
Time for another clue...
I'm not alone, I have a crew of five
They may not be perfect but during the game they thrive...

It still sounds like Speedball. My money's on Cap just forgetting that we'd already had it.

It's already been done? Doh! That 'll teach me to look at the first page of the thread...Child of Thor gets the honors
But..... ...., it is Speedball 1, not 2. The orginal had you playing with a crew of five on a much smaller playing field...and it appeared for a number of consoles (quite rare) The sequel, Speedball 2 , was far grander but the original also had its charms.

released around 1990.
I played the Amiga version but it also got PC and i think Mac ports.
Hints:
1. you could say it was a simulation of what happened to my people(the welsh).

Indeed, Powermonger always was a bit of a sleeper hit. This RTS 3d game was too far ahead of its time. Looking back it at now it seems awfully familiar to C&C generals.
I knew I should have chosen Powermonger for my riddle

Was there ever a Braveheart the computer game? Surely that must have been later.

Bingo!
we have a winner
The game was supposedly based on the castles built in Wales during the evil English repression of Edward I
The game used a psuedo-fantasy plot to this main theme. Its a great little game - even though i probably shouldn't like it

It wasn't as hard as most other games in this thread. Edward I first made me think of Braveheart but then I got a faint memory of him being known for castle-buildings (I have no idea whatsoever why I know that) and then it came as a flash...
Now I guess I have to think up a game of my own...

Good call Kropotkin , yes Edward I built some of Europes most sophisticated military castles, my country is blo*dy covered with them! they are great to visit.
Spookily enough my rank changed to 'King' on this appropriate topic
And Spaced Cowboy - i dunno, cave wars - not all welsh people live in caves - i only do so out of choice

So, now I've figured out an old game. Impossible level: Strategy from around 1990 (no it's not Castles again). I owned it on C64, it was also released on PC. I remember that it was on one single 5 1/4 inch floppy. Ah those where the days! It was a special feeling when you switched side off the floppy when it flew out of your 1541-drive in to your hand. Those sissy 3 1/2 are not close, and don't get me starting on those CDs.... Well Ok, I'm full of nostalgic crap, but isn't this the thread for it? Anyhow:
1) Around 1990, strategy on C64 and PC.

Ok then....
1) Around 1990, strategy on C64 and PC
2) Heroes and artifacts plays a role in this TBS.
