"Bolivar's Dream" has been finally released!
I posted this thread in the Spanish Site Forum first, but it seems that our beloved forum has been invaded by Civ3 fans
Any Civ2 fans know that Jesús Balsinde (aka Jay Bee, our beloved Spanish Forum mod) created a scenario that would be a Latin American version of his "Spanish Pride, Iberian Pride": Seven Latin American civilizations starting just like in a normal Civ2 game but in a Latin American map, from Southern USA states to Patagonia.
The scenario was finished loooong time ago (~2000), but Jay Bee became lazy and never released it. We even did a PBEM playtest (still at play) to test its multiplayer capabilities.
Any months ago, Jay Bee asked me to finish the scenario and release it. I couldn't at that time, but I never forgot about it and now it's time to release it!
I've changed as less as possible, not only because I am a lazy b*stard (as El Awrence once said) but because I don't want to spoil the scenario. Just added any sounds, changed any leaders (updated in fact, they are the current leaders), wrote the Civilopedia text for the Wonders of the World and the readme.txt
The Scenario is Available at The Spanish Civilization Site, of course.
Thank you Jesús for allowing me to spoil your scenario
THE PLAYERS:
-Argentinians (Néstor Kirchner)
-Colombians (Álvaro Uribe)
-Peruvians (Alejandro Toledo)
-Mexicans (Vicente Fox)
-Brazilians ("Lula" da Silva)
-Cubans (Fidel Castro)
-Americans aka Gringos (Jorge Caminante Arbusto)
EDIT: Typo with "Colombians"

Don't expect graphic marvels, curtsibling. Consider that it is an old scenario. But of course, we're always open to suggestions...

You're right, "Jorge" is the spanish form for "George".
"Caminante" means "Walker" in spanish.
I hope you'll be able to guess what "Arbusto" means (otherwise, try with babylon.com )

The scen is worth enough a play, guys. I believe that the easiest civs to start with are probably Argentina and Mexico, and Cuba is the most difficult one

Mexico has a good starting position but... "Poor Mexico, so far from god and so near from the United States" (Porfirio Díaz, president of Mexico)
The gringos are the bad guys in this scenario. They don't negotiate (when computer controlled), just crush all opposition. And Mexico is in their way...
mmm... maybe I should make Gringos stronger... another city at the beginning or so

Little Aesthetic Nitpick: "Columbia/ns" should be "Colombia/ns". That's the official name even in English (check your atlas/dictionary/almanac), despite the repeated attempts by a random number of ill informed people to make it otherwise (kinda like "old habits die hard", I guess).

On the download page, the image link links to celtiber.zip, not bolivar.zip. I mistakenly downloaded the wrong scenario :\

Does it really require an explanation?
When rmsharpe wrote about the wrong link at the download page, I answered writing I would correct it as soon as possible. Six minutes later, as I had been able to correct it, I edited my post to inform about it ("EDIT: Corrected")

I always see the map before I start. Not because I want to cheat by seeing where should I go, but because I like maps. I like making them, I like seeing them, I like'em. I use cheat mode usually. And now I can't. I'll have to either change settings or load it by map editor. Bueh. Waste of time. If someone wishes to open cheat mode, He will.
I do not use cheat mode while playing scenarios, except for my own.
