EAF on DocFlex deal: clarification point
Shortly after his previous PM I posted in the PEACE diplomatic exchanges, I got this PM, called "clarification point":
Quote:
|
If we take cash for doc flex, will you continue down the HEC road to pay us back from the prior deal ?
|
That's also the question of this poll. Please answer with yes, no or banana.

I wouldn't agree to any tech for tech deal involving D:Flex. Cash seems to be the only thing worth having. Our relationship is gone, so getting out of all deals that are hanging over our head and then ending the pact seems logical. Therefore we take the cash, give them HEC (Which is a prerequisite of D:AP, but I guess we can get over that ) and then leave them well alone.
Just my 2 e.c.'s

We are the ones that have to pay cash.

Apologies, I meant we take the cash deal. Anything below 100ec I think.

Yes for me, though I'd much rather trade tech to tech than tech-cash...
but it's fine if we don't reach another solution .
No more than 80 EC's tho, because we can buy from the AI too.

Currently there's a poll running in PEACE whether or not to accept a payment of 90 ec. More than 80 ec unfortunately, but still less than the 100 ec we should pay to the AI. (I checked.)

I thought that our debt to them was Ethical Calculus, not HEC.

@Corellion: read the Peace diplomacy thread (in short: we have swapped the order of trading around, so that we probably will give them the tech for Doc:Flex first and then the one they still get from the IndAuto deal)
@Maniac: 90 credits is fine

That's only though when they will accept tech-for-tech in the DocFlex deal. If they want cash, we'll be giving them HEC to finish the IndAut deal. I would've preferred researching EthCalc first, but if researching HEC can help improve PEACE-CyCon relations, it's worth it IMO.

I'd prefer to trade them HEC, then we can give them EthCalc (the only trouble I have is that they are then only one tech away from D:AP) to spending more money, but let's try and get it ASAP.

Maniac: I prefer Ec for Doc Flex too, but I would be against giving the HEC. We don't want them having military techs. This relationship is unsalvagable, for funs sake. SO I say let us get Eth Calc for them, then Non Math and kick the **** out of them. It would be fun and we'd gain loads. They're only asking for it because they want to be safe from us IMHO, and I wouldn't trust them with military techs. However Eth Calc is what they first asked for, so honour the original deal.
Or we could work the way it works with AI loans, that if Vendetta ensues, the loan is put on hold. Why pay back to someone we're at war with. I say pay for Doc Flex and then go to war

That would be very nice, we could immediatly get NLMath and then concentrate on building some 4-1 or 4-2 foils...
I don't think Peace has got sufficient defense to withstand that, and our techsteal will be delicious
This is a full war though, (Cycon and Peace becoming arch-enemies ) so we do have to consider well before resorting to this plan...

But with the MCC our ships would be 25% stronger and they would be more mobile, thus making it hard for PEACE to build a good defense against a mobile and flexible naval force.

If diplomacy with Peace should utterly fail (seems now they have finally responded- one final spark of hope for our relations ), I see 2 main options which have been suggested:
1) A lightning quick assault, we hit them before they can build additional defense . This means off course beelining straight for NLMath like Drogue suggested.
2) The other suggestion, researching Doc:Ini first and beelining for the MCC. This would make a great difference later in the oncoming sea battles.

I'd say go Doc Init, and hope PEACE dont attack us before we get Non Math. They will be peeved we won't give it to them, but still, we need to try to stall war until we get Impact Foils and the MCC.
